Getting in Shape

Oh Hai

Hello ladies of the GIS board! I've been lurking amongst you for a couple weeks and decided to de-creep myself:

I am kristbot.
I am getting married April 26, 2014.
My clothes aren't fitting my body the way I would like them to anymore and I've finally decided to do something about that!

I saw success using MFP last year but got lazy and stopped tracking my food. Today I decided to change that and get up off my butt and go to the gym.

I'm getting forward to be accountable here, hopefully it will help with my motivation!

Re: Oh Hai

  • Welcome, Kristbot! I've seen you on other boards. What kind of changes are you going to make?
  • Hey Andrea! I've seen you around as well :)

Right now I'm trying to get into the routine of going to the gym 3 times a week and just tracking what I eat. I find (for me personally) that the healthy eating habits come with getting more active. Once I start into a routine of exercising regularly I want to eat healthier.

  • Hi and welcome! I also recognize you from other boards, though I don't usually post elsewhere often. Good luck getting into the swing of things. It's tough, but worth it!

  • I've got no babies of my own (real or fur) but my sister has a new cat that I love and basically consider mine, haha, Her name is Paloma and she's 2 years old:

So far wedding planning has been a breeze so far, (knock on wood!). I just purchased my dress on Thursday (click).

I guess the part I'm looking forward to the least is the inevitable cutting of the guest list that is bound to happen. For the part I'm looking forward to the most I'd have to say picking out the brooches for my brooch bouquet. I'm having one made by a seller on Etsy and she should be sending me a selection to choose from soon.

  • Your dress is so pretty! I love all the beading, especially the back around the corset.  It is amazing!

  • I feel the same way about exercising. I can feel how much more strength and energy I get for my workouts and recovery when I eat better foods.

What a gorgeous dress! Did you purchase it in your current size or desired size? I did the latter and am under a lot of pressure with 3.5 months left, but it is SO motivating.

    Welcome and gorgeous dress!

  • I ordered it in my current size. I'm hoping that any weight loss won't affect me too much in regards to alterations because it's a corset back.

  • This brings up a question for me then... they didn't give me an option or even ask if they should have ordered my dress smaller.  They ordered according to my try-on measurements.  Am I going to be facing lots of problems should I hit my goal by my wedding (roughly 45 pound loss total)?  It is not a corset back dress.

<div>I didn't get the option to order smaller either. It actually didn't even cross my mind to do that. I would call the store you ordered from and ask them what can/will have to be done to the dress to make it smaller if you do hit your goal. It will most likely be taken in at the side seams. The seamstresses will know what to do.</div><div>
</div><div>If I hit my goal and the dress is too big I figure I'll just ask them to take out the corset and add a zipper instead. Or whatever they recommend.</div>

  • @Kristbot - welcome to GIS! Hope to see you around on accountability!

You'll have to post pictures of your brooch bouquet when it's all done! I made paper flower bouquets for me and my bridesmaids and I thought it was one of the best decisions I made...we all still have them as a reminder of the wedding :)
