Wedding Update Wednesday!

What have you accomplished in the last week??

We were at FI's parents so we got nothing done.  FI's mom is likely going to let me borrow one of his grandmother's rings to wear for the wedding, it's a marquise-sapphire/diamond ring, so I have something old/borrowed/blue all wrapped in one!

I'm trying to find a shower dress but have had no luck.  Do shower dresses have to be white/have white in them?  Other than that, things are mostly on hold til FI comes in 2 weeks and we finish our invitations.  I can't believe our last Pgh trip pre-wedding is in 3 weeks.  Starting to move quickly...

    Wow MD - You are getting really close! I don't think shower dresses have to have white in them at all. I'm not planning on wearing white for either of our showers. Wedding Updates - Rehearsal dinner booked - Mallorca in South Side - Flights and hotel booked for St. Martin honeymoon - Veil shopping Saturday Question - What is the significance in wearing a garter and do I have to wear one? We are planning on skipping garter removal/bouquet toss at reception.

    mmm Mallorca.  Nice choice!

    From what I've read, the garter's significance comes from the fact that people thought parts of a bride's clothing were good luck.  They used to rip pieces of the wedding dress, but then brides started wearing things like garters and tossing them so their dress wouldn't be ruined.

    I dont see a reason to wear one unless you are tossing it or like the pictures with them in it.

    I just had my bridal shower when I was home in Ohio on Friday!! My aunt came into town from California to surprise me- it was sooo awesome! My friends did such an AMAZING job with everything- the food was great, everything went smoothly. They did the thing where the guests write down their favorite memory of me and I had to guess who wrote what. They also asked FI some questions and recorded his responses prior to the shower, then asked me the same questions during the shower. It was really sweet!

    We didn't really do anything wedding related over Christmas except pick out tuxes. Must get cracking on everything!

    MD- I didn't wear a white dress, mine was blue! I ordered some cute dresses from The Limited but then they didn't fit quite right, so I ended up getting my dress on super duper clearance from Kohls.

    lindsay- I'm not planning on wearing a garter. I'm not doing the garter toss so I don't really feel the need.

    Hey Lindsay, we're going to St Marteen on the same island! When are you guys going? -Figured out hair style with my stylist (my aunt who has her own salon!) -Booked our honeymoon in St Maarten -Finalized rehearsal dinner menu with Big Burrito -Worked on wording for ceremony and selected a passage for member of my family to read -Worked out minor details with bartender and venue It's been a productive week off!

    Ok, so I am a day behind on this but...

    My invites are done! I'm sending them out today :-) Yeay! We also found my girls shoes as well as their jewelry. However, we can't find the jewelry online, so we might have to find something else :-( My girls are all over the country and need to be able to order it.

    I still have so much to do. I am behind all of you guys and I'm getting married in two months :-(

    This weekend will hopefully be productive though. I'm doing my second dress fitting, hopefully printing and cutting the name tags, and starting on my FI's present (a scrapbook).

    Lindsay- No worries about the garter. It's a waste unless you are throwing it, or getting pictures like people said.

    Md- Yeay for something blue! And old!

    Boo, my post disappeared from yesterday. -This week we booked our honeymoon.
