Soul Food Recipes?

Hey Ladies,

I've decided I want soul food to be served @ our reception, but we're only serving vegetarian dishes. In my mom's kitchen, everything is made with some kind of meat. Do any of you have any vegetarian soul food recipes I could send to my caterer?

I would google "soul vegetarian" or "vegetarian soul food" and I'll bet you'll come up with a lot of options. We have several vegetarian soul food spots in Atlanta and the food is really good! Good luck!

I don't have a recipe, but you should think about having candied yams with marshmallows at your reception. They're a hit with my fam.

Everything can be vegetarian. Mac and Cheese, Yams, Collard Greens, Fried Corn, Dressing, deviled Eggs, corn bread, cole slaw, rolls.

All these things can be supplemented with herbs, soy milk, rice milk, etc. All kinds of stuff. I'm not sure if you don't do egges, or cheeses or just no meat. But doing everything with no meat is VERY POSSIBLE.

Thanks ladies. I would google it, but theres a TON of recipes and I dont know if any of them were AA tested and approved

I guess I'll just have to get experimenting in the kitchen asap!
