vendor reviews

hello,

I know I wasn't very active on the boards. I was just married on 6/18/11 so I thought I'd let you know how my vendors did. I was planning my wedding on a budget and it turned out to be everything I imagined.

DJ - Bill Adams entertainment- he was very professional, he did always responded to my emails within one day. He did everything he could to make my vision happen. I had a very long reception and he didn't end up charging me extra for 3 extra hours. For the price he charges he is the best DJ you'll find. He has great equipment, and although I had made many requests ahead of time...he was very perceptive to what my wedding guests were dancing to, he got everyone on the dance floor.
I give him an A+++

Purity Springs resort(this is in NH)- it is only about an hour from Portland.- They were the least expensive lake resort I could find. We are very outdoorsy we loved the idea of having a rustic wedding. They can do more elegant weddings as well. There were a few problems throughout the weekend. We were supposed to have a bartender at the welcome dinner on Friday, but they never showed. And they closed the bar down at the wedding 8pm, this was 5 hours into our reception...but we had agreed that the bar would be open until midnight. The food was great and it is a beautiful place.
I would give them a B over all.

Rebecca Dean Photography- She was also very professional, she went above and beyond all my expectations. My pictures are beautiful memories I will cherish forever. She is very talented and has a great eye and always gets "the shot". We had a catholic wedding, and she went where ever she needed to , even on the altar to get the shot she wanted. I was very impressed. Her editing skills are amazing. I think the only reason she charged so little is due to the fact she is just starting her business. I would book with her now before her rates go up...she is just so talented. I give her an A++++. You can find her on facebook.

I ordered my flowers from 48longstem.com...I saved a great deal of money...and the flowers lasted for 3 weeks! It was a lot of work, but if you have a few hours and a few people to help you, I say go for it! it is a huge savings!

Ceremony music - Tracy Purcell- she is a fantastic lady, she is so funny and up beat. She traveled over an hour to my wedding and didn't charge me any extra. She had great suggestions and did a wonderful job with guiding me through the process of the ceremony music. I had a catholic wedding, I have know she would do well playing for any type of wedding. I give her and A.

I had cupcakes at my wedding, I ordered them from shaws for 50 dollars. No one  knew where they came from...also a huge savings.

I hope this helps you all! good luck planning!

    Wow this is awesome...I am also planning my wedding at Purity Springs Resort and hoping to order from 48 long stems. I will definitely have to clarify that we must have alcohol available until 9:30 or the groom may leave his reception early! As far as ordering the flowers:
    How early before the wedding did you have them delivered?
    Would caring for them in a basement work?
    Do you think 300 stems or so should be enough to have 5-6 stems on 15 or so tables, make one bridal bouquet and 3 much smaller bouquets, and still have a few to decorate with possibly?
    Sorry for so many questions! I am so happy to have reviews of vendors I plan on using!

    OH and I almost forgot, I am still looking for a DJ and am on somewhat of a tight budget. Do you mind me asking how much Bill Adams charged?
    Thanks again!
