kauai in a month!

Will be in Kauai in a month! Staying at islander on the beach, beach front. Any suggestions on places to eat? Activities? Etc!

Re: kauai in a month!

  • I got this book when I went to Kauai last summer, and thought it was a great resource as a lot of things to do/see are not marked.  Click Here

  • Where in Kauai is that?  H and I were just there 2 weeks ago and even though we got a lot of rain, it's a beautiful island.  Some of our trip highlights was the ATV tour with Kipu Ranch, the sunset Na Pali dinner cruise with Captain Andy's, and the Smith Family Luau.  As for restaurants, my favorite place we ate at was the Hukilau Lanai in Kapaa.

  • I did get that book as well! its in kapaa! Anyone do scuba or helicopter rides?
  • We didn't scuba. But we did snorkel for hours. It was amazing. We rented the gear and went to tunnels beach. Swam with two large turtles and loads of fish. By far my favorite thing we did when we were there. If you like hiking you should do the Hanakapi`a trail to the water fall it was so pretty. We didn't do the helicopter ride because we were on a budget but heard that is amazing as well. Have a blast!

  • We highly recommend The Beach House restaurant to anyone that goes to Kauai. It was the best meal of our honeymoon...make sure to make your reservations for sunset. Their website: www.the-beach-house.com/

We did a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian, make sure you take some Dramamine before you go...we both got nauseous the minute we took off :( Their website: www.bluehawaiian.com/

    Have a blast!
  • We didn't get a chance to go diving because it rained a lot while we were there, and since there are so many rivers/creeks running off into the ocean, the visibility was poor.  I can't remember the name of the dive op that we were going to use if conditions were better though, but I know they were located in Poipu.

Also, PP mentioned dramamine...if you do the Captain Andy's tour, definitely take some.  H or I never usually get sea sick when we are on dive boats, but we underestimated it for such a long tour, H got pretty bad towards the end of it and we didn't think to bring dramamine.  Even if you aren't sure, bring some anyways.

  • Definitely eat at The Beach House as suggested above!  We also loved Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt. (These are both in poipu.)
  • We also took the helicopter ride.  Fantastic, but a bit queasy... worth it, though.  Also did the Zodiac ride... fantastic.
    You'll enjoy it, for sure!
