NWR: Cruises

FI and I are talking about taking a cruise sometime in the March to May time frame. We are going to Disney for our honeymoon and are thrilled with that, but we have wanted to do a cruise for some time and his vacation time was sparse this year.  I have only been on one cruise ever (Carnival on an almost retired ship).  My experience was okay, but I know that there are much better ones out there.  My FI has been on two others (Royal Caribbean and Princess).  He liked both of his, though he tended to be happy just staying on the ship if the port of call sucked.

We are looking into a cruise through Princess.  These are the itineraries for the two.  I'm looking for any input on the ports or the cruise line (or even better, the specific ship).

Royal Princess: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Princess Cays, Bahamas; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; St. Maarten; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida;

OR

Crown Princess: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Princess Cays, Bahamas; St Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Thanks!

Re: NWR: Cruises

  • Personally I think the second itinerary sounds MUCH better.

  • I've been on two princess cruises.  It's higher end, so it's really nice, but it also tends to be an older crowd for that reason also.  I'm not sure what you're looking for out of a cruise line.
    We did St. Thomas, St. Maarteen and Princess Cays on our trip.  Beautiful islands.  The second itinerary sounds like it has an additional stop so I'd take that one between the two.

  • My FI and I have been scouting that second itinerary also! He popped the question during our Princess Cruise at Princess Cays we were on the Crown too!, and it is an AWESOME cruise line! The people are so friendly and personable, the food was always delicious German buffet night...drool, Movies Under the Stars was always entertaining...we had such an amazing time! It's definitely not Carnival, even though they are owned by them. It's more lowkey and quiet...not as many kids, which is a plus for us, it made it hat much easier to relax. But there's always something to do. I recommend the balcony staterooms, you'll never want to cruise in anything else! Good luck choosing! ;
