Chocolate Party Favors

Is anyone considering having chocolate as a favor for guests?  I'm thinking about doing chocolate truffles for the guests at the reception (outside), but I'm concerned about them melting.  I plan to have two per box, per guest.  Just wondered if anyone's tried it, or thought about it.  Not sure if it's a good idea.  The reception is at Gannon's restaurant, and I think when they ship them they're packaged with an ice pack so I'm pretty sure they'll keep until we set them out.

If you get them, definitely refridgerate them as they WILL melt in about 2 seconds.  When we were in Maui last we attempted to drink some pop fresh out of the fridge, and seriously - you have to drink it in one minute or it is warm, 2 minutes or it is HOT!

I would not do chocolates outside.  Our wedding was in March and they would have melted.  Also, shipping with ice is only partially effective - what if the box gets delayed by a day?  If your heart is set on chocolates, buy them locally, and leave them on a table on exit inside a temperature controlled building.

Otherwise, maybe something chocolate related, like cocoa mix or other non-perishable?

THIS. I'm doing chocolate at my AHR in Phoenix, but I'm making them, so they will be in the frig until the second we leave which will then go into a cooler full of ice and they will be places in the ballroom about 30 min before people get there and I'm asking them to turn the AC on full blast during that time.

Yeah, I'd be a no to chocolate favours as well. Ultimately, even if you put them on the guests' place setting 1 minute before the guest arrives, they'll still get all melty by the time the guest leaves. You could avoid this by handing them out AS the guests depart, but I think that's probably more hassle than it's worth.
