Wedding Venues in Kauai

Hello everybody!

After researching venues in Maui, our focus has now shifted back to Kauai to save our budget.  Here are some of the venues that we've had a lot of communication with.  Can you please give me any feedback on these sites?  I live on the mainland and wouldn't be able to travel prior to our summer, 2012 wedding.  We are expecting 65 people and would like an ocean view and possibly a beach setting for the ceremony.

Grand Hyatt - It looks stunning, but it's also very expensive. Is it worth it?

The Kauai Marriott Resort - Their prices seem more reasonable; however, I'm not thrilled with the location that is so close to the airport.  Additionally, I've heard the beach isn't as pretty.  Has anybody seen this in person?

The Waimea Plantation Cottages - I'm still waiting for a quote back from them.  It isn't as "beachy" as I had hoped, but it seems like a nice setting.  Thoughts?

Do you suggest any other properties?  I would love ANY ideas that others have.

Thank you for all of your help!

Have you looked at the St. Regis Princeville? It's beautiful. I'm partial to the north shore though. The Grand Hyatt has a great beach, we saw a wedding there when we were there on vacation in june. The marriott was in a really busy area if I remember correctly, it had really nice landscaping and seemed big, but we didn't see what the beach was like over there. I just remember we kept trying to find a place to park and couldn't. I know there are a few girls that actually live in kauai that sometimes are on this board so they probably would have a better idea.

The Westin Princeville is also supposed to be really nice!

Also, how tied are you to the idea of holding it at a resort?  There seem to be some lookout points / gazebos, private homes, restaurants, etc that you can also consider.  I just Googled and found a number of coordintors' sites who list venue options, for example:

    http://www.paradiseservices.com/locations/privatelocations.html

    http://www.weddings-kauai.com/beaches.php

It can also help to call some coordinators and share your requirements -- they probably know of some other places too!

Thank you for your suggestions!  Initially I did not want a resort wedding because I worry they may be too cookie-cutter.  I priced out some private property weddings, but once you factor in the cost of the tables, chairs, tent, and other required rentals the price goes up.

Since we're expecting approximately 65 people, we thought that we could keep cost down a little more by using a resort.

I've heard that Princeville is very expensive, like the Hyatt.  Do they have any properties that are lower in price?

Check out hanalei bay resort or hanalei colony resort, that area is beautiful as well and those properties are smaller so they may not be as pricey.

I'm getting married at the Grand Hyatt next spring. We had contacted the Westin Princeville, St. Regis, and Marriott as well. We didn't receive a response at all after 2 follow ups from the Westin, and after making an initial contact with the Marriott they had a significant delay (2-3 weeks) in responding to questions. The St. Regis was very helpful, but it ended up coming down to price as they are more expensive.

We've received great service and had awesome communication with the Grand Hyatt and their property is gorgeous with many different options for the ceremony and reception.

We didn't look at any non resort places, so I can't comment on that. Hope this helps

I'm getting married in Kauai next month at a private estate on the north shore. I too am partial to the north shore and was set on having the wedding on that side of the island. I didn't look into the resorts too much because I liked the idea of a private venue. We are expecting about 50 people. I can definitely tell you though, it does get very pricey when you add up all the rentals. I am using an amazing wedding planner, Mira*Mira, who has made the process fun and stress free. If you decide to consider private venues let me know and I would be happy to help out.

I'm getting married in Kauai in November at the Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens on the north shore.  We chose the north shore because that is where the timeshare we are using is located.  Although I am afraid of the potential for rain - I think it is such a beautiful area (in pictures at least) and have heard nothing but good things from people.  I love that Na Aina Kai allows you to have a private beach ceremony - although the same regulations still apply with regard to not letting you set up chairs and other structures.  There is a house on the property called "The Residence" which is where our reception will be.  I thought the site fee for the day was pretty expensive, but the food & table/chair rentals have been reasonable.  We also researched having a tent on the property for the reception - but there were additional costs that we decided against.  Overall I am happy with my selection and think that it will be a beautiful place to celebrate.  Let me know if you would like any additional info about the location. Smile

It depends on what you want.  I've been quoted anywhere from a couple hundred for the ceremony only to about $2,000 for the full reception planning from different coordinators.  My wedding is about 65 people, so they are taking into account furnature rentals, design, etc.  Hope this helps!

I'm working with Kaye at Maile Weddings.  I love her so far!  My wedding will be July, 2012 on Kauai.
  • @flash - where did you decide to to have the wedding?
