flower petals?

So stupid question... But how many flower petals should I get for 2 flower girls?  Church wedding 14 rows of pews...  I see some sell by the 100 some by the 1000.

    How old are the flower girls?  I think if they're older than 3, they'd be more likely to not get distracted and throw more petals.  I did some math with some assumptions about aisle length (70 feet), step length (2 feet, petals thrown every other step) and number of petals per handful (5) and came up with ~90 needed per flower girl.  Can your baskets hold that many?

    omg you're awesome!!  Yes they aren't normal clothe baskets.  Our ceremony decor is all out of grapevines & lace.  So the baskets are a bigger than usual I believe.  One is 3 & the other is 7.

    I'm not sure how many you'll need, but are you using real or silk petals?  My florist told me to use silk because real could stain my dress.  I hate the look of silk flowers, but I don't think anyone will notice that they aren't real on the aisle.  We don't have a flower girl, so the flowers will be spread before the ceremony and the center aisle roped off so that only the bridesmaids, ring bearer, and myself walk down the center aisle.

    Those baskets sound really pretty!  The numbers I gave were just how many they would use,  I have no idea how many would fill the basket to make the useable (ie not digging around in the bottom).  Can you go to a craft store and see what 100 petals looks like and compare that to your basket size before ordering the petals?

    Yes definately silk for the flower girl petals.  I didnt even think of going to a store to see how much it looks like.  Thank you.  Either way I know I need more than 100 now :-)

    UGh we are having an outdoor wedding so cannot use silk flowers as we would have to make sure we collect them all afterwards and being outside would make it difficult, so the evening before the girls and I are going fallen leaf hunting and they will toss leaves...
