February 2012 Weddings

I'm an early march with a feb question!

My FMIL is planning on hosting my shower for her friends and FI side of the family. Because my FSIL is 15 and cannot host the shower on her own. The concern is that in Indiana where we live the weather is bad in February- Late January which would be the ideal time to hold the shower. So is late October early November to early to have a shower? One of her other ideas is to have it after the wedding but I just don't like that idea at all I think it makes me look gift grabby!

So to summarize:
Should FMIL host shower in not so ideal weather?
Should the shower be in late October- early November?
Or is it kosher to the host it after the wedding?

Re: I'm an early march with a feb question!

  • if you do october, i would choose late october. However, we're in Michigan and have similar weather then you in IN... i would choose a shower date closer to my wedding, personally. IF the weather is horrible you could always have a delayed date... I know here in Michigan, people know how to drive in crappy weather. So unless your family isn't comfortable driving in bad weather i'd stick to a closer date to the wedding.
However, if that isn't possible i'd do before the wedding (oct) then after.

  • I know people having showers a week prior to their wedding. Personally I am no help since I am not having a shower due to the amount of out of town family and girlfriends.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

  • I'm in Buffalo and my shower is late November for two reasons. Yes the weather because we have out of town guests  coming in. Also, Dec and Jan is crazy with all the holidays and parties people attend. Figure November is best for schedules and weather. I wouldn't do any earlier than that though.
