Motivation...where the heck are you hiding?!

Out of all the times one should be motivated to get in shape...I would imagine it would be now.  I'm so worried that I'm going to dislike my wedding pictures!  I actually gained 8 pounds after ordering my dress in March and then frantically got those back off.  With being 5'1 everything shows whether its up or down.  I know over the next few weeks I've got bachelorette weekend at the beach, dinner with various friends.  OY!  That makes it so hard to be on point.  Does anyone else struggle with motivation?

Yes! I feel the same way. I've gained alot of weight since FI and I started dating... I guess when you are happy and comfortable, that's what happens? And my MD had me on some migraine meds that made me gain alot in a short amount of time.

I've wanted to get in shape for the wedding, and I'll work out for about a week and then lose my motivation. Maybe we should motivate each other. Maybe if we check in everyday with what excersize we did, etc, we won't lose interest so much. lol.

Take advantage of all the fresh fruits and veggies at the supermarkets and farmer markets!!  They'll help you feel full and satisfied longer.  :-)

Oh, and to beat the summer heat...find a swimming pool or lake or ocean.  Great way to burn off calories and cool off!

I'm having the same problem.  I tried on dresses once, a few months ago, and my sister took pictures.  Yuck I didn't want to show them to ANYONE.  I joined WW about 4 years ago and lots 45 pounds.  I started slowing putting it back on and now I back up almost 20 pounds.  I want to start trying on dresses in January so I need to get moving.  My fi and I try to do stuff together but it's crazier now with taking his daughter places and also the heat.  We try getting up at 5:00 3 days a week. My friend got a WII balance board and lost 30 pounds in 4 months.  She's in her 40's, like me so I'm motivated by that.

Wow! I hadn't really heard anyone with a Wii Success Story.  What about her diet?  Did she change her diet or just start using the Wii?

I'm fat and happy, too----I guess that's the price of comfort!  I have gained so much weight since we started dating, too.  I keep having failed attempts at weight loss, but every once and a while I get remotivated---I'm just wanting my gown to fit!!!  My bridals are in about 4 weeks and my alterations are not until about 2 weeks AFTER that, so I have got to lose some before the bridals because I gained some after buying my gown and now I cannot breathe when I'm in it.  Oh, I wish it wasn't so hard to lose weight!!!!!!

I bought some excersize DVDs called slim in 6, since it's so hot outside, and nearly impossible to run right now. I lost 10 pounds the first week, but then I got lazy. I don't have time to work out an hour a day. :-/ I definitely think we need to motivate each other to get in shape. lol

Leigh Anne! I see that siggy pic, you are not fat!

Um, but yes I have no motivation. I love to cook and FI is not into "bird food" as he calls diet-recipes, so it is challenging. Our dogs are possibly more lazy than I am and tend to try to lie down in the street if we break a mile on our walk, so that's no help either. FI just bought me a bike though and says it'll help me since I hate hate hate running.

All my life I've been a horseback rider and that (and barn chores) kept me fit, but with my current job I can't afford that hobby so it's been a bit depressing.

Maybe we should form a Knottie walking club or something? For when it is less disgusting outside? My FBIL is taking a class in "fitness walking" at NCSU (they have to buy a textbook and everything) maybe he can give us some tips. :)

She did change her diet in addition to the WII.  She cut back on snacking and is eating more fruits, veggies, etc.
I had dinner with another friend last nights who's in her 50's.  She's been doing about an 1 and 15 minutes a day on the WII, and in 2 months she lost 10 pounds.  As far as I know, she isn't on a diet.

FI takes our 10 month old dog on runs and he does the same thing after about a mile, which is surprising since he has SO much energy.  I guess he is not an endurance dog, more of a sprinter!

Haha Beth, that's great- I am actually unreasonably happy that it's not just my lazy dogs that do that. :)

FI just got my bike! I get it Thursday. Let's see if this is fun/magical exercise that FI claims it is. Either way, now I can bike around Carrboro like everyone else- take that Prius owners! I have a lower carbon-footprint now!

(Disclaimer- no offense meant to Prius owners, I love them actually. I just hate that I can't afford to dump my gas-guzzler that eats me out of house and home.)
