? about jewelry NWR

I'm posting this over here because if I remember right, there's someone over here who's a jeweler, right?

I need a recommendation for a good watch. I've pretty much been a Citizen girl for the past several years, but all of my watches are a little on the bulky side. I'm looking for a smaller/thinner one, but I don't really know which brands I should be looking at. (all of the thinner Citizen one's look a little chintzy) Bulova has a couple of cute ones, but I've never had one.

I know I could just google and read reviews, but I'd kind of like to hear some personal preferences. I've read a lot of bad reviews about Citizen, and I've never had a problem with one. Thanks!

I was going to suggest Bulova. My parents bought me a Bulova when I was 12 years old, and I'm about to be 26. Changing the battery and repairing the band once are the only money I've spent on it and it still runs like a champ. From my experience, they're awesome watches.

ETA: what I mean is, I still wear that watch frequently and have had no problems, despite the fact that it's over a decade old.

  • I wore a Bulova for years. When I stopped, it wasn't because the watch stopped working. I just stopped wearing watches.

I have a Michele and I like it a lot.
  • I have a Citizen Eco Drive that I love.  Something about me seems to kill watch batteries so I love having a watch that doesn't need one.

In searching for a picture of it, I noticed Overstock is having 10% off select watches today only if you want to poke around there.

  • Thanks! I know this sounds stupid, but Bulova has a couple different watches that would look really good with my e-ring/wedding band. So I'm happy to hear a couple of good reviews.

  • Oh and on the same trip my parents got my watch, they got my grandmother one too. She still wears hers also. So I know of at least two that are in it for the long haul.

  • How about a nice Timex?  With a sporty canvas band?

    No?

Thanks! They actually have the one that I want, and it's a good bit cheaper than the jewelry store I usually shop at. I'm a loser though, I doubt I'll let myself buy it from Overstock. I'm trying to make most of my purchases from local stores/small business.

I'm with Rach. I love my Haurex Italy. It's the best watch ever.  But, when you figure out what you like, will you link it here? I'm looking for a more casual, thinner watch. My Haurex is a little blingy sometimes.

Erin, THIS is the one I've been looking at. It's not very expensive, so I don't feel so bad spending the money if I decide that I'd rather stick to my old bulkier watches. ETA: Ok I don't know if it's that same exact one, but it looks pretty similar to the one I was looking at.

I like that one too. I have a strange love for watches. I feel so naked without one.

That hardly makes you a loser!  I really like that Bulova you're eyeing.

  • Ooooh I like that one! I'm not usually a fan of stones in a watch, but I like that one a lot.

  • Another positive vote for Bulova.
I received one as a graduation gift well over 10 years ago, and like LC, all it needed was a new battery.
    Happy shopping!

  • Well, hell. Now I want that watch, too.

I have a small Tissot that is my everyday watch.  It's very reliable.  I've been wearing it pretty much all the time for the last 3 years and it's barely scratched (and I'm not easy on my things).

If anyone is a watch lover like me, I check SharkStores watch 'deal a day' just about every day. www.sharkstores.com/Watches
