Church decor

Does anyone have any good ideas for church pew decorations?  I am trying to figure out what to do because I am not allowed to use any tape or anything to hang anything on the pews.  ideas?

Re: Church decor

  • Would you be allowed to do something like this?

Also I agree with the post above. You could skip pew decorations altogether.
  • I agree, pew decorations are a waste.  I "invested" the money I would have used on pews on tree's that were at both ceremony and reception.  Pew decorations are usually only seen in pictures when the photog takes a picture of it (like the one in PP).  Nobody said anything to me about not having pew decorations...plus it was nice not having to spend time putting them up and taking them down.

  • I would say to skip the pew decorations and spend your money on nice arrangements for the altar.  That is the focal point for the ceremony and, possibly, the background for photos.  Money spent on florals for the altar goes far ... those arrangements can be taken to your reception for dual use.
  • Huh, I think pew decorations add a lovely touch to processional and recessional pictures and are neither a waste of time or money.

I did have them on every third pew and did keep them simple to keep costs down - 3 long pieces of tulle, folded in half and tied with a purple ribbon with some flowers behind the bow.  I bought the tulle and flowers wholesale onine, and I took the flowers out of them after the ceremony and used them in my centerpieces.  I used plastic hangers I bought at Joanne Fabrics to hang them on the pews.  I also did some draping of tulle on the back section of the church when you entered the church and where we didn't seat anyone:
