Has anyone gotten married on Bald Head Island?

    Hi!

    I'm interested in Bald Head Island weddings too...I was looking into maybe hiring a vacation house, and doing it that way...hope you find some info!!

    A friend of mine got married on Bald Head about a year ago (I was a bridesmaid). They said it was the largest wedding held on the island yet. It was absolutely gorgeous but they targeted us a little. They set up a license check spot (yes, on golf carts...you can actually get a DUI on the golf carts!) right outside where the reception was held. Some of my friends got tickets.

    Okay, so did each guest pay for their own ferry ticket? My guests are going to stay in southport. What about the golf carts on the island, did everyone rent their own? Did she have the wedding or the reception on the lighthouse grounds? I have more, but those are my biggest concerns.

    Yes, each guest purchased their own ferry ticket. It wasn't very expensive. 

    We all stayed on the island and the carts were included in the rental of the house. But, there are longer carts (shuttle-like) that initially take you to and from your house with all the luggage. That's included in the ferry cost. I would speak to the ferry people and explain that you have a large number of people coming over on the ferry at a specific time. I bet they will work with you.

    The wedding was in front of the lighthouse but there is also a cute chapel right beside it. The reception was at one of the country clubs. The rehearsal party was closer to the lighthouse and was outside under a big tent.
