changing my last name

OK, I know people have posted about this before, but what are the steps I need to take to get my named changed?

Start with social security - you just need your marriage license.  You can take your original - they'll make a copy.  Second, go tot he MVA - but you have to wait a day or two so that their system can update and sync with SS's.  Bring the letter they'll give you at SS, and your marriage license.  Again, you can bring the original - they'll make a copy.  After that...you're golden to change everything else - banks, credit cards, insurance (you will need a copy of your SS card, license and marriage cert).

I think that's it.  Let me know if I forgot something.

    My experience:

I went to SS, all I needed was marriage license and my driver's license.

Then I was able to change with BGE, Verizon, Comcast, and my Chase credit card over the phone/internet.  I brought the marriage license into Bank of America and State Farm in person and was able to change imy name at both places before getting a new driver's license, and I changed my name on my student loans by simply faxing a copy of the marriage license.

The only thing I have left is to go to MVA this weekend, and then I can change my name with my school/job (and through them, my health insurance) - they are the only place where my marriage license (or sometimes nothing at all!) wasn't sufficient.
