Contacting non-RSVPers

Is it bad taste to contact people who haven't RSVPed before the RSVP date? Our date is next Friday but we are still missing half of the responses. I have had several people respond verbally but we haven't gotten their card yet. Is it bad to start reminding people today before the date?

Not sure what the "rule" is about this, but we are planning to wait until after the date.

I think you should wait until  the date.  (I am even though my mom keeps bugging me.)  If you gave your guests a specifica date to respond by then give them until at least then.

  • I would say wait until after the deadline pasts.  A lot of people wait until the end, we have received between 7-10 RSVP cards back a day the last 3 days. I did have to fight with my mom to give me hers last night.

  • Wait till the deadline passes. From what I have heard, there will be a rush of RSVps coming in the week of our deadline. I think people will be annoyed if you call them the week before - they will probably say" yea, we were planning to send it in before your due date.."

Wait to call them a few days after the deadline. Some might mail the day of the deadline.  I know it's annoying....but I think its best to wait.
  • yes I would wait.  I would start to call them 4-5 days after the deadline some people will actually send them in on the deadline date so give it a couple of extra days to get to you in the mail.  Our rsvp date is June 20th we plan on starting our follow-ups on June 25th.

  • Wait --because you will see that a whole bunch will come in the day of your RSVP or the day after.

  • I'd wait, but I'm VERY impatient. I'ts going to be soo hard for me to give them a couple more days to respond. I mean honestly, I'll have given them like six weeks to respond, and now I have to wait a few more days?!

This is how I feel too. I'm giving my guests 7 weeks to respond and I have 2 weeks to get the remaining 40% of rsvps back. I'm going to try really hard not to contact people until the Monday after the deadline, but I might drop some hints to FI before because most of the missing rsvps are from his side.

This!!! None. I repeat NONE of the groomsmen have responded. I know you're coming. Send in the dang card!

Thanks for the advice. I'll wait...even though I'm super impatient. I did do a facebook status that one month until the wedding and a lot of the offenders have liked the status. Maybe it will be a reminder...
  • Im probably the only one who is going to say DONT WAIT. Why would you want to overwhelm yourself on saturday with contacting more then half the list??? Im not saying call everyone and be like hey are you coming? are you coming? I need to know now? But throw it into a friendly conversation. This way you have some kind of idea that they are coming or not coming. This is how we were notified a bunch of people were NOT going to attend. They were not going to even send the rsvp card in so I would have had to call them anyway!

  • Wait until after the date. I'd say wait like 2-3 days after the date because a lot of people might send them on the date.

  • Even though it about killed me I waited until Monday to start contacting people.  I got ZERO RSVP's the Thursday b4 my deadline and zero the day of my deadline.  I had around 40 RSVP's still out on Monday and contacted and got responses from almost everyone.  I final deadline for everyone we contacted is tomorrow.  If we havent heard from them by Saturday morning we are assuming they will not be attending. So...wait until after your deadline.

  • For the people that you contact, do you take a verbal as a yes I'm coming or do you still ask them to mail the card?

If you can confirm with them and find out their meal choice (if that's needed), I don't see why you would require them to mail their card back.

  • Definitely wait. I almost always wait for the deadline. I know I know, I'm awful.
