Ordering Invites

What is a good rule of thumb for how many extra invitations should be ordered? If you know you are sending out 75 invites, how many above that number should be ordered?

Re: Ordering Invites

  • I think about 10% over is a good about.  So for you, that would be 7-8 extra.  But you also need to consider what quantity you need to order in (ie, some places order in 25s, others 10).

Agree with shortee.  I would also err on more envelopes than invites, so 10% on the invites, and 20% on envelopes just in case.   Also be sure to set one aside for yourselves / the photographer at the beginning.  We almost accidentally mailed all of ours out :)

  • I think I ordered 10 extra (10%) and used all but 1 to keep for ourselves.  I agree with PP about the extra envelopes too.
  • Some places have you order by the 10, and if you need say, 125 I'd go with 130. Usually 5-10 extra is enough, but I second Tanq&Tonic on the envelopes - whenever I do addressing for folks I always order at least 10 extra to make up for any goofs.
  • I had to order in batches of 25 which is fine because I am sending about 75-80 invites and will have plenty to spare for goofs and keepsakes. I am thinking of putting one in each of the parent albums on the inner cover.
