Westmount Country Club? Addison Park? Venetian? Palace @ Somerset Park?

Hi Knot Ladies:

I am, as many here are, newly engaged and am in the painful process of planning this wedding.  I would prefer an elegant venue with a bit of flair, however my fiancee veers towards an outdoorsy atmosphere.  I know the Venetian is a bit traditional and it's not really my style but they're menu looks amazing and plentiful.
We are planning for the fall/ early winter of 2012 for approximately 265 to 280 people.  Saturday evening preferably but not opposed to Sunday, as I now have learned how IMPORTANT this budget is.  I am willing to pay 160 pp. including tax and gratuity.
Can anyone provide any recommendations (PROS AND CONS) and any info about pricing and if these venues are willing to negotiate.

I also have interest in the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle if anyone has any info about this venue.

Thanks again, and good luck to all of you!!!!

I think that they all will be in your price range if you are flexible with the day of the week. We went to see the Westmount Country Club and Addison Park and they were both over the $160 mark for Saturday (and that was in November).

I'm getting married at The Palace at Somerset Park. Definitely look into it and get their pricing on a Friday night - we're very happy with our choice! :)

I've been to a wedding at Addison Park.  The place has definitely more of a modern look to it .  The cocktail hour room was very large and most people were able to sit down.  I thought there was a good variety of food and it tasted very good.  I remember the service being good.  The dinner was okay.   I am not sure if you mind having another wedding going on, but when I was there they did have this.  The weddings are not very separated...only a few doors down from each other.  In fact I think they both share the same bathroom.  Overall I had a good time there!

I'm also at the Palace. We chose it for it's menu, look and feel, and the outside space. Definitely go and see it. They are so nice and very helpful. One of the brides in this board, Kellybee, just got married there this past weekend. She said she'd post details soon. Good luck! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Everyone here is nice and extremely helpful!

I would visit each of the venues and ask them what their price is for a Saturday night. Tell them you are willing to guarantee X amount of people but you won't pay more than $160pp. Since you are expecting a lot of people (hopefully you are inviting way over that number just to be safe that many people actually do show up and you are not paying for empty chairs) venues will be more willing to come down on price per person since they generally have a number in their minds they want to meet, whether you have 50 guests or 500.

I think they are all going to be above your budget (including tax and tip), no matter when you have it.

My friend is getting married at Addison Park in November this year. She is paying 135pp so it is doable if you are willing to do a Sunday.

What about The Stonehouse is Stirling? Seems like that should be on your list. I agree with the person who said that its more than $160. I believe before grat. The Palace was $175. I emailed them and they told me the prices, of course you can negotiate. I thought the inside of The Palace was cool, but the outside surrounding area is nothing but a parking lot, no pretty grounds. GL on your search.

Is that including gratuity and tax?  If not, it's over 170.

I actually looked at Glen Island Harbour Club (but for a Friday night). We were quoted $120/pp (not including tax & gratuity) & then $15/pp raw seafood bar & $6/pp VH. Two weddings at a time but there are separate entrances and bathrooms so you never see anyone from the other party. This was our second choice but my FI liked one room better than the other and our guestlist was too big for that room. Rocco is actually awesome to work with so try to make your appointment with him if at all possible.

I think that The Venetian on a Saturday night will definitely be more than $160/pp but the place is gorgeous & the food is excellent. I also suggest looking at Season's in Washington Township b/c it's the same owners as The Venetian and the menu & food are the same. It's less $/pp too. My parents have gone to weddings at both locations and have said they like the food better at Season's.

I would also look into The Estate at Florentine Gardens (which is my hall) but Saturday night will def. be more than $160/pp but you could def. get that price for a Friday night and most definitely for a Sunday. Several of my friends have gone to events there recently and I heard the food is excellent. One wedding at a time.

Rockleigh Country Club is also beautiful but again, probably more than $160/pp on a Saturday night but you can probably get that price for a Friday or Sunday. Food is excellent. They do two affairs at a time but separate entrances and bathrooms so again, you never see anyone.

Haven't gone to anything at Addison Park but my friend's sister had her wedding there & everyone raved about the food.

I've never been to Addison Park- but I do have friend's who have been there just recently.  From what they tell me, the food is excellent... From what I can see, the decor is beautiful.  Super contemporary- nothing too traditional.  I love the look of the dance floor!  Not sure of the pricing though.

If you're looking for over the top- Venetian is where it is.  I've been to a few weddings there, it's almost TOO much.  But, again, if that's what you want, this is def your place.  Season's is great too, similar food, cocktail hour and VH is phenom depending on your package.  Venetian dinners are way better.  Either way, you'll be paying more than $160 on a Sat night.

Westmount - New addition on the room, looks beautiful, I know a ton of ppl that got hitched here... You may be able to get them for $160 or under.

Bingo. These are premium sites and 160 after tax and gratuity puts you in the $125pp range before taxes and gratuity. I think it would be difficult to secure these places on an off-season, off-night rate. I dealt with the guy at Addison Park and he was not a flexible person. He was nice to us but came off a little arrogant.

I am getting married at the Rockleigh but I am paying more than $160 for a Friday night.  Its almost 180 per person but we included the Viennese hour which I believe they gave us a deal and did 10 per person.  Its an amazing venue though :)  You will get Seasons for 160.

I'm getting married at Westmount in November on a Friday and its over $160 for the Continental Room (holds 250) not sure how much the larger room is but I know it holds A LOT of people. It doesn't hurt to try though because they do not price over the phone so if you go in saying how much you want to spend (include total with tax and service charge) they will tell you what they have available in your range.

PS. Ask for Bobby! Thats who we are using and we LOVE him!

<div>Definitely don't do The Stone House at Stirling Ridge - it's just as expensive and the sales people have no idea what they're talking about!</div>

I am getting married at The Palace June 2012. The place is awesome and you definitely get the most bang for your buck. My fiance and I went to 12 halls before booking. We visited Stone House but it wasn't for us, too rustic. We went to Park Savory, they have some amazing deals right now because they are completely renovating the space and the plans looks spectacular. We wanted to get married on a Saturday night and they didn't have any Saturday nights left. We also went to Westmount Country Club, amazing space and amazing food. They were setting up for a wedding while we were there and I was practically drooling. They were also one of two who actually offer a food testing before you book. I would definitely advise against The Highlawn Pavillion (No offense towards anyone recently married there) but the chandelier had about 5 feet of dust on it and the curtains were all torn and dirty which was obvious from outside. We went to Brooklake Country Club which had the most amazing view but I wasnt feeling the reception area or the old man who showed us around!

Anyway good luck. The places are pretty pricey but if you are willing to get married on a Fri or Sat they are very willing to work with you.

Westmount and the Venetian are both top notch. No other places really come anywhere near being as good as those two.

But you will pay top dollar for them!
