wedding license question

Hi,

I just got officially engaged on Saturday and my fiance and I are moving to Herndon, VA, but my mother is very keen on me getting married at the family church in MD. Are there any complications involved in getting married in another state from where we live? Anyone dealt with this?

    I know that in MD, you have to get married in the county you get your marriage license in, but you don't have to be a resident of said county. Hope that helps.

    hey im from maryland and this is my second wedding so I think i can help. you do not have to be a resdident of the state you want to have the wedding at...but you have to get the marriage license in the state you are getting married at. so in your case, you live in Virginia but you would get your license in maryland (im not sure if you have to keep it in the same county...) there is a website you can check for that though...
