Calling All Vegas Brides/ Brides to Be!!!

Hi ladies!

My name is Tiffany, and I recently got engaged (yay!)!! We're planning a destination wedding in Las Vegas with 65 guests (max), but I'm getting overwhelmed by the reception options! We're planning on doing the reception in a restaurant, but it's so expensive! I'm looking at Mandalay Bay, the Luxor, the Wynn, Mirage, and most recenly, MGM Grand (which has a much better price point!)

Have any of you had weddings at any of these places? Trying to stay in one centralized location for all events to make it easier on the guests. Do you have pictures you can share? How are the photograpghers? I'm totally in over my head---eek!

    I didn't vote because I am not considering any of those.  If I get married in Vegas, it'll be downtown at the Golden Nugget.  I'll know in 2 weeks...

    You get more for your money slightly off Strip. I recommend the Palms for reception options (mine is at Little Buddha and they have been great) -- and the wedding packages seem good value as well.

    We are doing our ceremony at Caesars and reception at Maggianos. You can look at the first two posts for more vendor reviews/photos and Bios from brides and brides to be for ideas. Good luck, this is a great board to get help and ideas for your Vegas wedding!

    I know you want to stay on the strip b/c it is central, but if you do want to look elsewhere Firefly is down town on Freemont street. Neat thing for guests to experience, excellent food, and rates raging from 25-35 pp for food. 25 pp for 2 hour open bar. So you can get a nice meal and 2 hour open bar for 50 pp.

    We're having our ceremony at Caesars (venus Garden) and the reception is off the strip at the Orleans.  More info in my bio. The strip is great, just wanted to give my guests a different reception experience.

    I got married in the Valley of Fire, but our pre-wedding gatherings were at the Mandalay Bay {Border Grill (great food & service)  & insuite (catered)}.  My reception was at the Orleans in the Stardust Suite (awesome awesome place, service & food).

    We stayed at, and I was married at, the Luxor. They have a variety of packages, ranging from super budget to up there. We did a reception in my parents' suite where we had cake and an "open bar" with some snack food, then we went down to Tender Steakhouse with everyone and bought dinner for them (my parents did). We invited about 60, had about 15 -18 come, and I think maybe 12 or 13 went to dinner (all were invited).

    I believe Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and MGM at least will have the same photographers for the ceremony (I can't think of their name). We just did the simple package, and they were in a studio, but I thought they turned out well. They also took ones during the ceremony, and we ended up buying the entire package and got the copyright to them. My wedding was on a Saturday, we could have seen them Sunday, but we saw them Monday, and left Tuesday with all of our photos.

    Thanks so much for the reply!! The in-suite thing sounds really interesting! My main question is, how many people can be in one of those suites? My thinking is that we could do the welcome party there...

    I didn't vote for any of the above b/c I am doing my ceremony at Treasure Island's chapel. By far the best pricing I could find on the strip for a 4star resort rating, and I researched for weeks. Reception will be downtown at Firefly. Hope this helps!

    Consider the buffet. Pick a buffet at one of the hotels. You can get a dinner buffet for about $20pp which includes sodas. They can block off an area for you and some have private rooms. You can pay extra for alcohol or just take everyone to the club afterwards and get the party started. A buffet for 100 guests at the Luxor cost us $2500.
