Escort/Place Card Ideas

Hi girls...what is everyone doing for their escort cards?  I don't want to do just plan tented cards, I want to do something a little different, but need ideas.  I'm thinking votive luminaries, but want other, budget friendly, suggesstions.

Re: Escort/Place Card Ideas

  • We are doing tented cards... BUT to make it more interesting, we're layering them. I REALLY love the chiyogami paper strip.

  • I thought this would be a good way to bring my and my fi's personalities into the wedding. Each table is named after an exotic car (he is obsessed) and each escort card is going to be tied to a little horse shoe (I've been riding all my life) We are planning on lining them up on a burlap table cloth.

You can certainly use this idea with something that pertains to your or your fi's lifestyle.

    Hope this is helpful!
  • Do you have a theme or feel to your wedding? I've seen mini pumpkins for fall and apples with the name tied around the stem. We moved to NYC this year so are using metrocards and naming each table after one of our favorite places - super budget friendly b/c I just collect used ones from the subway! Also for fall maybe different color leaves cut out. For my sweet 16 it was 50s themed and I got a bunch of vintage records and made my own label that had the name and table name. Try etsy they have a bunch of ideas

  • My initial idea for the escort cards since it's a beach wedding was to do alternate of star fish and shells with a ribbon. My other idea was to do the message in the bottle. We ended up not doing a seating chart because the wedding is only 60ppl. We want them to sit with whomever they want.

  • I'll be having mason jars as my water glasses, so I'll be tying twine around the rims with a little cutout of some sort with their names and table number on them.

  • Thanks for your suggestions everyone!  Our wedding has an elegant feel.  I'm doing peacock colors, although not really a peacock theme.  (The only place I'm incorporating an actual peacock feather is on my menu cards).  I have hanging crystal votives from my centerpieces and crystal garland...so I thought of doing some type of tree with the escort cards hanging from a crystal....but that sounds like a lot work (I have 101 escort cards) and  I'm not much of a DIYer....i'll keep brainstorming :)
  • We did something with our personalities. DH plays baseball for a living so we named each table after a baseball stadium. Then we used baseball as our escort cards.

  • Why not do the folded escort card, but do it in that beautiful blue peacock color and then embellish it with a small peacock feather to jazz it up!

  • between FI and I we have lived in 15 different cities. so we were going to name each table after a city that one of us has lived in. with pics of us at that time as part of the center pieces as well as maybe a couple of facts about the city or signifigant things that happened in our lives while living there. we were going to do the seating chart so that his family sits at my tables and vice versa. we aren't going to do that now because we are doing a cocktail reception with not seating chart but it's just a thought. makes it a little more personal and allows for the families to get to know us a little more!
