Signature Cocktails....Need some Inspiration

So I keep going back and forth on this idea that I'm having. As mentioned in a PP we are stocking our own bar... Beer, Wine and Liquor. There are a bunch of websites out there that say having 2-4 sig. cocktails to narrow down what people are drinking (plus they are cute!)... and kind of steer them in the direction you want them to go... So here is my "brilliant" idea of the evening... 4 Signature drinks... (yes that sounds like a lot/overkill I know... but keep reading) each drink will be named; 1. Something Old, 2. Something New, 3. Something Borrowed, 4. Something Blue... good idea? I have ideas for a few of them... based on our fav drinks....

1. Something Old: Firefly Vodka & Lemonade (I've been drinking vodka lemonades forever, hence something old... plus "Arnold Palmers have been around for a while)

2. Something New: A twist on a margarita on the rocks my fiance has been making since I met him..

3. Something Borrowed: Rum & Coke (borrowed from a day to day bar menu)

4. Something Blue: ??? Here's where I'm stuck... blue gin and tonic maybe?

Please give me some feedback... do you think this is a bad idea...? Some blue drink ideas...??? By doing this we will have flavored vodka, tequila, rum and one additional liquor on hand incase someone wants to drink something else... or do a shot..(shots are big with my friends unfortunately..) I def want the blue drink to have either whiskey or gin for a 4th type... Can't wait to hear your suggestions!

  • Also... keep in mind we will have descriptions next to each name... otherwise they wouldn't make sense!

  • I went to webtender and searched for "blue" as the name and "gin" in the ingredient section.  There's one called blue moon that should fit the bill!  Good luck...I love the idea, I just want to make sure you're not stressing over preparing 4 signature drinks on your day!
  • Thanks I'll check webtender!!! And Libby no worries the bartenders will mix them I just need to give them the recipe!

  • Not sure how this would taste... bc punch is usually made with rum... but I'm thinking Gin, Sprite, and Blue Hawaiian punch? What does everyone think?

  • I think the idea is cute, as long as there are menus at the bar giving the descriptions.  People won't know to expect these signature drinks unless they see it posted somewhere before going up to the bar and just seeing the bottles of vodka, rum, etc.  Perhaps even placing these drink menus at the tables would be worth spreading the word.

That being said, the obvious blue drink to me would be a cocktail featuring blue curacao.  Here are a few recipes I found:

    Glacier Ice

    3/4 ounce Canadian Whisky

    1/2 ounce Blue Curacao

    2-1/4 ounce Ginger Ale

Place ice in Old Fashioned glass. Add ingredients in order given. Stir.

    April's Violet recipe

    1 1/2 oz Bombay Sapphire® gin
    2 tsp Blue Curacao liqueur
    3 drops grenadine syrup

    Blue Gin Cocktail

    • 2 oz. Bombay Sapphire Gin
    • 1 oz. blue curacao
    • 1/4 fresh lime
    • 8 oz club soda

    Whisky Blue Cocktail Ingredients

    • icon Use a highball glass. Pour whisky over a little crushed ice (only a little) and add an equal amount of cream. Colour with blue curacao.  Very smooth.

  • I like the idea! I think it's cute and I would definitely agree that as long as you put the drink menu up it will be fine. I was going to suggest using Bombay Sapphire gin since sapphires are blue, so the blue would be more in the name rather than in the color of the drink. However, I think rungirl12 has the blue colored drink covered!
  • Thank you all so much! There so many options out there!

  • I'm not sure what was in this drink, but I had one called a "Blue Hawaiian" that was delicious!!  I think it was a rum drink vs. a gin drink though, so not sure if you would be ok with that.  I would google blue drinks with gin to find your 4th siggy drink!! :)
