what goes under?

What did you wear underneath your wedding dress?

I'm busty but don't know if I'll need a bra/corset because the dress is strapless and fitted.

Re: what goes under?

  • I made the mistake of having cups sewn into my dress.  I thought I'd need something to keep me "in place".  Big mistake, the dress wasn't raelly made for htem so I ended up pretty much popping out of my dress in all the photos.  I kind of hate that!  If the dress is well fitted, I dn't think you need anything.  Mine had a corset back (lace up) so it was fine on its own.  I just wore regular undies.  :)
  • I didn't wear a bra and my girlies stayed where they need to be (I've got a decent sized rack) - I had a corset back though. If it's fitted (WELL) I'd probably say no bra. I hate bras. I HATE THEM.
  • Undies!

I didn't wear a strapless bra. The boning and structure of the dress made it unnecessary....and I have gigantic boobs.
  • I wore a long line bra.  My dress was cotton and not super fitted though, so I needed the bra for support.

  • thanks!  exactly what i wanted to hear!

i have my first fitting coming up and kleinfelds asked me if i had "everything" to bring with me.   which i thought meant shoes but apparently meant shoes and undergarments.  "don't worry" (says the saleslady) "we have an excellent selection of bustiers or you can just get cups".

really?  take your say yes to the dress $ and shove it.  i'm free-boobing!

Me too! I don't know what I'm wearing under my dress yet. I can go braless, but I might get a sticky bra. I also haven't decided if I want to wear spanx or normal underwear.
  • I'm getting cups because I am not as blessed as some of the other ladies here in the boob department.

  • Ditto the free boobin'.  I am also ginormous.
  • I would say ask your seamstess, but Kleinfelds is always trying to sell you things that you may not need.

Ha, I'm not that big (B cup), but the cups were still a mistake.  Just make sure when you are testing them out that you lean forward.  That was the biggest thing.  When I was standing up straight in all my fittings, it was fine.  But when moving around and leaning forward (which I do a lot, or maybe I just have horrible posture), my cup runneth over in all the pics.  Funny though, I mentioned it to my Dh (that I didn't love how it looked in the pictures) and he didn't understand what the problem was.  :)
  • I have DDs and a corset back dress and I am wearing a longline bra. I need all the help I can get.

Someone told me once when you breastfeed, your boobies shrink.  They lied.  Mine got bigger and more stretched (TMI, sorry).

I told FH that when they start hitting my waistline, I am having them puppies lifted and tucked.  No nipple hanging out of the bottom of my dress, no thank you!

  • I had cups sewn in (yay, my ladies are small).

So, I only wore blue undies :-)
  • I had cups sewn in, and wore Victoria Secret bride undies. I tried on some spanx, but I actually looked WORSE in it! How weird.

  • I had cups sewn in and my dress is a corset back.  I'm a C cup, so not too big but not tiny either.

  • my dress was not strapless but only had spaghetti straps. when it was altered they put a bra in it, but I wear a 36DDD and wanted to be sure so I wore a corset underneath as well. I like a little extra support in more showy clothes though, so I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with things like that

  • I've got enourmous boobies, so I've got a longline bra to go under my dress. Without it, they are way too low in the dress. I'd recommend getting one and taking it with you just in case it doesn't work without.
  • C is a fantastic size.  I'd kill to be a C.  I am only a B in a really padded bra.

    I would love to be a C again too, but I'm a D now...:(

I wore a longline bra just because I felt more comfortable that way. Plus cute undies. :) My dress was really structured with an internal corset, but I like the extra lift the bra gave me.

  • You all can have my big boobs. They hurt my back, make me look bigger up top and limits my tank top and shirt selection. I tried on a really cute tank top from New York and Company today and it fit awesome except in the boob area. I dont think 2 inches of cleavage is appropriate for the work place. :(

I'm going to wear a long line bra or whatever it is so it sucks me in. That's also what I tried on the dress in, so I"m just sticking with what I know.
  • I had cups and didn't have any problems like what noodle's talking about. I actually bought a longline bra to wear, but you could tell the difference between bra and no bra in terms of how thick my waist looked, and the seamstresses, my friend and I all agreed it looked bette with no bra.

  • I'm busty (DDD/G) and I'm wearting a long line bra.  My dress isn't super-structured, so sewing into the dress wasn't an option, but one thing I noticed at my fitting was that before she got messing around with the corset back, the girls were in just the right spot and covered appropriately.  So I'm hoping that helps me from spilling the girls out when giving a million hugs that day!

  • I'll take some boobs, Birdie!

I had cups sewn into my dress, and then it had a built-in corset (that my MOH didn't notice so didn't attach).

So all I wore was my blue thong under my dress.  :P
