  $2000-3000 is a good price...go see a bunch of people and decide who has the best offer. going to bridal shows is another way to help, you can meet LOTS of photographers in just a couple hours! dont be afraid to ask for a price range.

  I agree with most of what pp said. Except for the figures quoted. You can certainly find starting price quotes at this level, but if you up your budget to $3000 - $4000. you will have a lot more choices.
  
  Someone posted a poll not to long ago and it revealed that most girls here spend between $4000 - $6000 on photography.

  I would say based on my visits $4k - $5k for basic packages (60-80 pix albums, 2 parents albums, wall pictures, engagement photos and sometimes even guest books).

  It really depends on the photographer and what you want included. I'm having 2 photogs for 8 hours and get online proofs plus CD. That's running me about $2400.
  
  I didn't want engagement photos and I can do the album myself so I didn't have to worry about those things.

  Mine is 2500 which includes engagement pics, full day coverage with 2 photogs, our album, and a wall photo.

  i agree the 4-6 range is appropriate depending on what you want.  I paid 3400 and that was because it was a friend of the family, and I got the works.  Def visit bridal shows to get an idea.

  I agree.  The smartest thing to do is go to bridal shows, get information, get a feel for the photogs and then talk to the ones that you liked and see what they can do for you.  Example, the package we chose had parent albums...we didn't want them so we got to substitute for other stuff.
