After-Reception - Bar/Lounge

This was a topic that got me thinking several months back...wanted to do a follow up for April/May/June brides - give me your reviews!  (and of course, anyone else too)

We are looking for a place with no cover, no lines to get in where we can say 'The Bride and Groom will continue the party at ** - feel free to join us!'  Everyone would be on their own for drinks, so we don't want to have to commit to a minimum.  Ideally somewhere center strip, but location might not be a priority if we can find a good place!

Anyone have a good experience to share - or a good recommendation for me??
Thanks so much!!

I don't know any of the details (if they get lines or charge cover), but we're hoping to do Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan as a starting point for our b/b parties.

I've also been to Carnival Court in Harrah's for a little party in the evening.  I don't believe they charged cover and we didn't make it obvious that we were a party, so there wasn't a minimum, we just ordered our own drinks from the bar...

    HTH!

We had really good time at Eye Candy in Mandalay Bay.  Not sure if they have lines though.  Not really middle of the strip, but that was the only bar we went to that we had a good time at.  The one's in the Mirage wanted $20 - $30 cover during the week and were filled little the younger generation. lol.

we went to the Chandelier after the reception. H gave a (drunken) speech at the end telling whoever wanted to keep the party going to meet us there in an hour...gave enough time for everyone to get down there while we finished up with pictures with Mike & Courtney. It was very nice there...but after 45 min, we left and went down to Bills for Strawberry Margaritas and beer....then to Burger King at O'Sheas....kept it classy : )

is there a cover at the Chandelier Bar?  That is one that spans multiple levels in the middle of the Cosmpolitan, right?

junebug - im sort of thinking of suggesting Bills or O'Sheas as well, simply for the fact that it might just be easier!

another question...we were planning to do something similar - tell our guests to meet us there in an hour or so.  my mom is insisting that we will 'lose people' and that we should just go directly there to keep the 'flow' going.  thoughts - anyone else have opinions on this?  not sure if it really matters....everyone will be able to find there way somewhere, and if they want to stop somewhere else, thats fine too, right!?

We went to Eye Candy at Mandalay after ours, but almost everyone was staying there and that was kind of "our place" for the weekend, where we would meet up, find people, etc.  There were never any lines or covers.
We didn't lose many people after the receptions, except for some of the older folk. And we went up to our room first, I had to get out of my dress and quick shower and take off all my makeup!  People were still partying by the time we got down there, and it was like midnight...

Cosmopolitan doesn't really have enough seating to accommodate a large group IMO. Although if you can speak to them and get your own area then that would be ideal, it is gorgeous.

Other than that, maybe Parasol Up, Parasol Down in the Wynn (cocktails and a more chilled out vibe) or Rhumbar at the Mirage?

Yeah, I'd tell your mom not to worry.  We did the "we'll meet up in an hour" thing back at GVR - we unfortunately didn't quite make it in that hour because DH was dealing with one of his GM (long story) - a bunch of people were still already hanging out, DH & I showed up late but it was fine, then everyone split up to go gamble anyway.

Yeah I was going to say eyecandy too, just won't be center strip.  I was there in March and again for our wedding this month and while it was often busy so you had to wait a few minutes to get a drink, there were never any lines to get in or cover.  The seats around the outside areas are first come first serve but they do have private tables inside if you wanted that.

Caesars has some decent open bars/lounges you can use if you don't care about dancing; eyecandy has a dance floor and DJ.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!  I will check out Eye Candy, Cosmopolitan, and Parasol Up/Down (never heard of that one!).  I'm almost thinking of just doing what you suggested, VG - and just say we are going to Caesars and hang out in some of their open bars/lounges off the casino floor so that people can drink/gamble and all be in the same area.  Hmm.  much to think about, but I appreciate the advice!

What would you consider a "large group"?  25+?  You're talking about Chandelier Bar, right?  Thx :)

Any center bar will work....just don't get ambitious and try the night club thing without a for sure hook up with a large group
