Bride/Groom Swing Dance Number To Suprise My Guests

I love big band music & thought it would be such a memorable part of the reception if my fiance & I did a swing dance to Jump, Jive & Wail by Brian Setzer Orchestra as a suprise to our guests. We would do it later in the reception. (Not as our 1st dance)

First of all, is this a dumb/corny idea? Second, any ideas of where to take this dance class? (preferrably in Metairie). And lastly, can it be done in my wedding dress (I wasn't planning on changing out of it at the reception)

All ur ideas & suggestions are appreciated! Smile

Go for it!!!  I love swing dancing too but I took a class in Mobile and don't know where to go around here...you can probably find something if you Google it or start calling around.  Agree with you not to do it for the first dance.  Assuming your wedding dress is floor length, it might be hard to do some of the movements so maybe try it in a long skirt or in your dress itself and see whether you're comfortable.  If worse comes to worse, it might not be too bad if you have to switch outfits...maybe you can put on your going away outfit, or DB has inexpensive short dresses, and you'll have lots of ladies on hand to help get you out of your gown.  Especially if your fiance is on board to do a swing dance, I wouldn't let it hold you back from doing it if you have to change!
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

My soon-to-be hubby is a professional ballroom dancer (and teaches in Metairie). Send me your email if you'd like more info. We also love swing.

If nothing else, we can provide some suggestions.
