Hair Advice

My hair is currently just below my shoulders. I really want my hair long for my wedding in September,so I was just wondering if anyone can offer any advice as to how I can get it to grow. Should I get the ends trimmed periodically or should I just let it go for a few months? Should I take vitamins?

I really would like to get my bangs (which are long side swept bangs normally but have grown into the rest of my hair right now) cut for a trip I am going on this weekend, but I am not sure if I should. I really don't want to spend the money on extensions for my wedding so it is important that my hair grow by then, but I am really in need of a trim right now. What should I do?

  • Your hair grows on average 1/2 inch a month.  So you are looking at about another 2 inches or so.  I have been taking prenatal vitamins and have seen some results.

Bangs are a tough one--I tried growing mine out before the wedding and by my shower 2 months before, I was going crazy so I cut them.  I was happy I did though as I think it looked alot better with the style I chose.

  • A lot may depend on the hair style you are going to go with for the wedding. If you want to wear it all up in some sort of bun, the length may not matter, and sometimes shorter (like just past the shoulders as opposed to halfway down your back) is better for updo's.
My best friend was growing her hair out LONG for her wedding for an updo but when she went in for her trial her thick hair made this HUGE lump on top of her head. She chopped off about 4 inches and it made so much difference, and she was still able to get it all up.
Maybe consult with your hair stylist if you have one lined up?
  • I would also suggest talking to your stylist about your options and wait to cut your bangs if at all possible.  As for growing your hair out, you do want to get regular trims, especially if you heat style your hair.  You want to get rid of the split ends you may have or they will just continue to split up your hair and you'll end up cutting more off in the long run.  Take prenatals or Biotin.  Both of those have worked for me.  Good luck!
