A budget reception site that captures the essence of MKE

Hi all...
I am newly engaged and looking for a reception site that is in the downtown /third ward/ 5th ward area. Unfortunately, our budget doesn't allow for most of the venues. Does anyone have any insight to an unlikely spot or hidden gem that isn't well advertised? I appreciate any advice you guys have!

Thx

We are using South Shore Park Pavillion for ours. VERY reasonable.

Do you know if a ceremony can be performed outside there, too?
  • We are having our reception at the Milwaukee Public Market. $500 rental fee and you pick whatever food you want from any of the vendors there. Only buffet style, but meals start at $28/person and I thought that was really reasonable.
  • We got married at South Shore Pavilion.  We had the ceremony outside on the lake (you can use their chairs with permission & if you bring them in after) and then the reception followed inside.  You're able to use whatever caterer you chose and we used Sean at Times Square Pizza.  We gave him our budget and he made an AMAZING tapas buffet without going a dime over.  Super cheap, but really great, I don't regret any of our vendors/locals.
  • South Shore Park is EXACTLY what I have been searching for. I have tried finding contact info online, but for some reason it has become more difficult than I would think. If anyone has any contact info that they could pass along, I would be very grateful.

Thank you for the wonderful suggestion!
