Looking for a venue in the Tampa area

I have been searching on-line for a venue in and around the Tampa area.  I have looked at a few hotels (Sirata, Hyatt, Doubletree) and they are quite pricey.  I did not like the 22% surcharge and then the FL sales tax!  I liked the Davis Island Garden Club but they are booked on my date (March 2011).  I would prefer a location that allows outside caterers and allows you to bring in your own alcohol (seems much cheaper than paying for an ope bar package).  I am also looking for a planner.  Any sugestions would be helpful!  Thanks!

    I'm not sure you'll have much luck avoiding this.
    Even when we go out to eat, if there are more than 6 people in our group, the restaurant adds between 18% and 25% tip surcharge and then the sales tax.

    Try the Tampa Woman's Club.  They allow your own caterer, but I'm not sure about the booze.  They're right on the bay and have plenty parking.

    Depending on your size and where you want to do the ceremony the Palm harbor Wedding Chapel might work for you. They have an attached reception area and you bring in outside caterers. One of my friends got married there and it was beautiful. I really loved the wedding chapel but FI wanted to get married outside so we are getting married at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club. They gave us a great price too if you want to check them out. But about the surcharge, I think you are going to find that at a lot of places. Every place we looked at had a high charge for gratuity and taxes.

    The Palmetto Club in Fishhawk Ranch is gorgeous and you can get everything you asked for. Depending on your guestlist size there is a B&b type place in Auberndale, FL that is VERY pretty as well.
