FI 2 cents... First Dance Question

Hey Girls,
Ok so this whole process my FI had no input. I pretty much took care of this wedding by myself..lol We are planning on having a first dance that starts out serious but ends with a cute choreograph dance.. My FI says since we are doing a dance like that, he prefers we enter the reception as Man and wife.... Go straight into the eating and then towards the end of the dinner start the party off with our dances.. First mother/ father and then ours that would lead into the party part of the reception...
This isn't customary but do you  think it will work?
Thoughts?
Happy Halloween and Happy Friday!

I voted doesn't matter but I would like to throw in there that it seems odd to do the parent dances before yours- I thought the whole point of the first dance was that it was your first dance with anyone as a married couple. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

No i completely agree!!!! I've been trying to explain that to him but he's not getting it!
I want to do it as soon as we get in.. but he says no.. I am going to show him some of these responses so he understands I am not making this up..lol

well I know what you are going through...Garrett wanted to be DIFFERENT and have us come in from different doors into the reception for the first time high fiving everyone as we met up on the dance floor into our first dance...

    who does that?! haha

PS. I won...we held hands and high fived everyone together...hehe

I still like the first dance right away...everyone at that moment is focused on YOU...later on..you will lose people to bathroom, smoke breaks, etc..

I know that it looks like you've resolved this, but I've never heard of the bride and groom dancing right away when they enter the reception - Admittedly, I'm not from here, so I've never been to a FL wedding, but I was super surprised when I read this post! Where I come from it's typical to have a little announcement when the couple enters the reception, then dinner, then first dance.
