  I thought the Zilker Clubhouse was a great venue, but I wasn't okay with waiting until only a few months before the wedding to have the venue reserved, but if you're organized and okay with it, I'd say go for it! Just make sure you follow the lotto system that the city uses to determine who gets the spot.  My wedding coordinator, Rachel with Buon Affare Events, actually suggested that we look into the city venues, so I assume she has experience with them, but she just found out she's having triplets so she is having Kristi Treadwell take all of her business.  I'm not sure about Kristi's experience, but you might check them out.

  My family had a party at Zilker Clubhouse when I graduated from UT and I am considering having my wedding there. The way the lottery works is that you have to write them a letter requesting to reserve it for the day you want, and they draw a random letter for each day. The best way to ensure that you get the date you want is to have tons of people you know send in a letter requesting your date because it ups your chances of being chosen. We had all of our family members send in a letter and my aunt's letter ended up being selected. I think we had to reserve the venue in her name as a result, but my parents and I dealt with everything and paid the checks and they didn't seem to care.
