Candy buffet

Have any brides done this, or maybe are going to do it?  If so, how much candy are you planning for.  Some sites say 15-20lbs each candy.  Which just seems ridiculous!  I was thinking more along the lines of 50-60 pounds for about 90 guests with about 7-8 different candies.  TIA!!

This is very popular and I love it! I don't know how many pounds to get though.
I am doing a cookie bar and my DOC told me to have 3 dozen of each cookie (5 or 6 types of cookies) for 75 people.

I did one, it was my favorite part to plan! I'll post some photos of mine once I get home. I had about 18 kinds of candy, and I averaged about 2-5 pounds per kind. I ended up with about 50 pounds of candy for about 80 guests. All but 5 pounds was eaten, but then again, the candy buffet was open all night, and people started eating on it first, before they even got appitzers. if you're on a budget, the best place for jars is thrift stores ( I got about 20 jars for 10 bucks at Goodwill) and all the candy was gotten 75% after V-day and Easter.

I was thinking this might be a fun idea too!  Someone suggested to me not to set it up until closer until the end of the night.  That way people can fill up a bag on their way out.  I am not sure though how much you will need.  Let me know what you decide :)

I am doing one and the lady at candy store said to consider the size of the take home bags you will be giving them to fill..like mine will hold about 1/4 lb of candy...1/4lb times how many guests...but that is assuming everyone only takes 1 bag...I am also going to only have it open after cake is cut...if you have it open the entire time of the reception than you will go through a lot more candy...

Definitely use smaller bags/boxes so it limits what they can take. I preferred take out boxes, it was easier to put candy in them. I used the 1/2 pint size, and it worked out really well.

We used Let's Set a Date Co. To design a custom candy buffet for us at our wedding! They travel throughout FL and their price was amazing! We found them at www.myletssetadate.com and their email is letssetadate@yahoo.com. They came highly recommended!
