Bride maid Budget and style mixed up

I have a situation. I just bought my wedding dress and now moving forward with the 5 bride maids to figure out. My color is red and want it short. I've searched and searched and can't find a dress I like enough for them to get yet their budget also is a problem, most can't spend over $100 on the dress. And every dress I consider its over. I don't know what to do? I even tried online but still ended up over $100. I also have the problem with my MOH  who will be wearing a black dress BUT she wants it long because she is on the plus size and doesnt like them. Would that throw it off? I want her wearing black to stand out because I'm also having two MOH, my very best friend and my sister. and other bride maids to wear red all will wear slashes. I'm confused, please advise.
*Singing* I can see clearly now the rain is gone, its going to be a bright.... BRIGHT.... bright sun shinny day!

You'd be better off picking a designer and letting the BMs pick their own dresses.  That way they can spend what they can afford, and they can get a dress they are comfortable wearing.

If your MOH wants to wear a floor length black dress, I think that would be alright as long as it still matches in formality with the rest of your wedding.

For a short red dress, I would say start looking at department stores.  I was in a weding once where we wore a short red cocktail dress from Ann Taylor, and it was less than $50.

Putting the word wedding on anything automatically makes it more expensive, so with a tight budget, you're going to need to think outside of the box.  Other than that, your only other option is to just pick what you want and pay the difference.

I have seen a lot of people use Ann Taylor, Ross, Kohl's, Bealls Florida, and other mall stores to buy lower cost dresses.

It will be best for you to pick the color and designer and let your girls pick their own dress. That way they all have something they feel comfortable in. David's Bridal has a lot of dresses that are right at $100.

Ditto, stop looking at "bridesmaid dresses" and you will have much better luck.

    Example: <a href="http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/Aspeed-Womens-Special-Occasion-Dress/3933222/product.html" rel='nofollow'>http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/Aspeed-Womens-Special-Occasion-Dress/3933222/product.html</a>

Or tell them to get a David's Bridal dress in Apple Red anywhere they can ... they can look on eBay or Craigslist or in thrift stores to find them:

I agree with pps-- stop going to bridal salons and look in department stores, or even stores like Deb for prom dresses. There are a ton of prom dresses going on clearance right now that they could scoop up for super cheap. There is really little difference between many prom & BM dresses.

If your BM feels uncomfortable in a short dress, I'd let her wear a long one. I know how it is to feel self-conscious in short skirts and would have a heart attack if a friend asked me to wear something that would show my legs. In the end I feel like one's relationships with one's friends is more valuable than perfect pictures.

You can also go for convertible dresses. As long as you stay away from "Bridesmaid brands" like Dessy and Twobirds, then you can find those types of dresses at a reasonable price. (Less than $100 not including tax) Victoria's Secret, Target, and etsy are places you can look for convertible style. Victoria's Secret carried both short and long convertible dresses.

Try prom dresses maybe? i like davids bridal but there are alot of outlet stores that sell dresses, as far as MOH wearing long wouldnt be a problem, unless you want matching like all BM matching/similar style, as well as both MOH matching/similar style than you could always ask your sister to wear long also? just dont make someone wear something they are not comfortable in, they really wont have a good time...
     Good Luck!

Thank you ladies. I have two bridemaids showing me dresss they like. We tried looking at JcPenny's and Macy's but didn't find anything we liked. We'll continue searching. Thank you, made it a lot easier for me to search, the MOH will wear a long dress and her favorite color black and red to stand out from the girls so she is very happy. Thank you! : )
