Grand Marquis

Hi all !!  Just put down a deposit for the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, NJ for a April 2012 wedding.  Just wanted to know if anyone has booked their wedding there or has been to a wedding there, and what their experience was?  Such as, did it look good, was the food good and so on.  My main concern is the lack of outdoor photospace.  I am having some mixed feelings and really hope I did not pick the wrong place, after all you only get married once!  Any feedback would be much appreciated!!  Thanks!!

We had an appointment there to check it out and as soon as we pulled in the parking lot we turned right back around because of its location, the lack of outdoor photospace, and the parking lot was a mess.  I've never been inside, so maybe it's a completely different experience when you walk in, but one of our big things while looking for venues was what they looked like as you drove up and Grand Marquis just didn't do it for us.

I don't know if you really want to ask for reviews now that you've already put a deposit...

My first wedding was at The Grand Marquis in 2002.  I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about the wedding (although there's obviously plenty that could be said about the marriage).  The inside is pretty but not many picture spots but I am not a picture person so it didn't phase me.  Food was great - people STILL talk about my cocktail hour.  The staff was awesome and we wanted for nothing.  We had the bigger room not the one with the glass dome but both can be decorated beautifully.  At the time there was an in house florist who was amazing so that helped a lot.  She actually has her own business now and I'm using her again in November.  I've heard there was a change in ownership at the Grand Marquis so I don't have any insight into what it's like now but that was my experience then.

I went to one wedding there and really wasn't fond of it.

I say if you are not 100% sure if this is your place, see if you can get your deposit back. I wouldn't have put down a deposit if you are not sure.  Maybe the food was really good in 2002 but when I went a few years ago, it wasn't good - though hopefully it was an off night.

Hi! I am getting married there on February 26, 2011.  Before we booked we went for a food tasting, which they only do when they are hosting an event so you try the food that they are actually serving and it was really awesome!!  I ate a lot of things i normally dont like, including steak, and loved it.  The owners have been super helpful anytime i call with questions.  Also, the indoor photo space is nice, my photographer did a wedding there right before we booked it and the pictures by the piano and fire place were really nice! Since its a February wedding the outdoor space was not that important to us.  My friend went to a wedding there in November and had nothing but great things to say about the place! But honestly all that matters is that you are happy with it!!

My cousin's wedding was there several years ago and it wasn't that great. My cousin (different cousin than the one that got married there) had an entire platter of beef & gravy spilled on her by an incompetant waiter. She was incredibly lucky she wasn't burned, just covered in grease. Disgusting! When the maitre'd came over, he insisted she send her dry cleaning bill to the management, which she did. They then refused to pay for it. For that reason alone, I wouldn't even look there when we were searching for a venue.
