Overwhelmed bride on a budget.

I am trying to find out what it usually costs for flowers at a small wedding. I have little to no idea what i'm doing here.
I would need:
5 or 6 centerpieces
3 bm bouquets
3 boutonnières
and a bridal bouquet

i want orchids involved so I know that will drive the price up a bit but i would like a general price range. i just want to be well informed so I can make a good decision.
thank you for any help!

Another idea would be to ask a grocery store with a floral department. I'm not sure I recommend actually getting your flowers from the grocery store, but it'll give you something of a cost estimate. (I wish the whole world could buy all its flowers from the flower stand 2 blocks from my office. It's cheaper than even the grocery store, and the best quality I've ever encountered. Worst quality is the expensive florist shop a few blocks from my apartment. *sigh*)

That is a great idea! Again thank you. (I wish my friends father still owned his flower shop, i would just go straight to him if he did. Oh well.)

I'd check around with various forists... the costs will be determined by the types of flowers you  want, the time of you year you're getting married (will the flowers be in season?)  the size of the bouquets you want etc etc.

Get some ideas, go in to talk to different florists and then decide how you want to proceed.

I'm not sure how much orchids are but my sister just did a wedding with yellow and white roses. It cost her around $400 for 3 BM bouquets, 8 boutonnières, 4 corsages, 2 wristlets, and a bridal bouquet. (The flower shop also threw in the rose petals for the 2 flower girl baskets for free.)

i think u should just go into your local florist and ask to see their books. then look and find what u want and they will give u a price. the flowers, season, locations, and all of that will all affect the price.

but till then, you can look up wedding flowers on ebay- there are several people who do the "entire package" for a flat fee. i dont know if they are perfect for you, but it is a way to get a "guestament"

My husband and I recently celebrated our 43rd anniversary.  I have had a lot of experience over the years planning and decorating for weddings and showers.  I am not a professional, but you mentioned orchids, and here are some ideas that we used in our semi-formal vow-renewal ceremony.

You can buy artificial orchid stems at a local craft store--much more cheaply than real orchids--and people can't tell they aren't real unless they actually feel them!  We used them, and had about 60+ guests and NO ONE guessed they weren't real!  Even in the close-up photos of our hands (with rings) and my bouquet, you still can't tell!

The bridesmades each carried about 3 stems of orchids with a sprig of artificial "palm" (or fern) leaf, all wrapped & tied with ribbon.

My bouquet was similar but had added stephanotis sprigs and was a "heart shape"--round with one long stem of orchids cascading down at the base.

All of the flowers were then "borrowed back" from the bridesmaids and put into tall vases filled with tinted Epsom salts for the reception.  Since the flowers aren't real, no water was needed. You can buy Epsom salts in boxes at a dollar store and tint with food coloring (don't use your hands!).  I also bought extra Epsom salts, bottles of fragrant oil, and tiny mesh bags that tie at the top (also at $ store).  I added scent to the salts, then filled the bags and gave out as "favors" to
    each woman that attended.

If you want more elegant and fun ideas for wedding/reception, email me!  I am happy to share!  And if you want to actually see the fliowers--I have pictures I can share!
