Oregon Weather

Hey there,

Maybe someone can help me out? I am from Portland, but I've been living in New Zealand for the last 4 years, and just can't remember what the weather is like around September 17th through October 1st? I know its starting to get colder then, and maybe its just wishful thinking, but I really hope there's still a large trace of summer left. I've already looked on weather.com, and it seems hopeful, but I wanted to ask some real people what their memories of that time are. Should I be expecting it to be kinda cold, or should I expect that that time can be pretty nice?

Sounds silly, but I really can't remember, and it will help me pick out a date for my wedding, which will be at McMenamins Edgefield; a partially outdoor site.

Thanks
Nicole

New Zealand?? Sweet location. I've always wanted to travel there so I'm a tad jealous of you!
For Portland, usually the weather isn't too bad in September if I remember correctly. It's usually fairly decent until mid-October. I'm in Southern Oregon and the last part of September to mid-October is the best time of year IMHO. It's still light out late and temps are still in the upper 70s to 80s. That's why I planned my wedding for then!

    Good Luck!!

Pretty much what she said... the weather is *usually* fairly nice around that time of year...

    ...... HOWEVER.....

This year has been really nuts with the weather.  On average we're about 10 degrees cooler right now than at what we *should* be.  We had record breaking rain in May and we already broke several records for June in the rain department.

As with any other outdoor Oregon wedding... Make sure you have a tent.  There's really NO predicting what will be happening come the end of September let alone next week.  No seriously, they can't even get next week right.

    Good luck!

Ditto to what Kizat said .. It's been nuts. I live in Grants Pass and we're usually in the high 70s, low 80s by now. I had to put on a sweater to go to work this morning and just now at 1:30 in the afternoon did it warm up enough to wear just the t-shirt I had on underneath. And it's still a bit brisk. I wouldn't be surprised if we' end up with snow in July! Smile

As a general rule, it doesn't get consistently nasty until Halloween.  However, the last two years I attended outdoor weddings in August and we were freezing, so who knows?

At least with Edgefield, they have decent indoor spaces in case you can't be outside.
