Getting in Shape

Gained 10 lbs since I bought my dress

Yep this is a problem, yep Im gonna do something about it....sometime soon, just not today ;)

So I bought my dress in October last year. Its not a corsette so there's not wiggle room.  I usually work regularly enough to stay in the safe zone and feel great. Then I moved, then came thanksgiving and christmas. January I started grad school full time. Started planning the wedding about the same time.

Ummm  well here I am 10 lbs heavier, and hopefully not gaining.  I just finished my first semester got all As after much stress. I took 3 weeks off from work (hoping to get rest and exercize) for my wisdom teeth extraction took out all 4. Been putting it off for years decided to do it now or never.  Well with that I've only been eating puddings and yogurt and all the nice mushy stuff (like cheesecake) that I can get my hands on. The first week I concentrated on my final papers and exams the second week was surgery week. Third week recovery and wedding planning ;)

I know I could easily find time at least a 1/2 hr each day to do something minor like eliptical but I get up and then just go back to bed, until I HAVE to get up and do something.

I go back to work this weekend, for the next semester Im only doing 1 class that should lighten the load some, and free up some time to do everything else.

Wedding is September 23. Wish me luck!

  • Even if you don't have time for exercise every day, weight loss depends a LOT on diet. If you change your diet alone that will help a lot. Don't put off till tomorrow what you can start today :)
    image
  • In order to lose 1 lb per week you must reduce you caloric intake by 500 calories a day, roughly 3500 calories a week. Join something like myfitnesspal or spark people. They are both free. You can track your calories there and make sure you really are reducing what you are eating. With that said, make sure you are eating enough. Not eating enough can be just as bad as eating too much. Don't fall below 1200 calories per day or your body goes into starvation mode. Weight loss cannot not be achieved by exercise alone. 70% diet 30% working out. You have 5 months until your wedding you can totally do this!! Good luck!

<div>Seriously? </div><div>When you run out of your "pudding stash" you are likely to just buy more.. it's pudding. it can sit in your shelf for a freakin' year. </div><div>You're finding excuses for yourself so you obviously aren't THAT motivated to live and healthier, morefit lifestyle. </div><div>I get being busy.. I'm a full time student and was a fulltime+ worker for most of my college years (until this year since it's my SR year H wanted me to quit and focus. I didn't put up much of a fight ;) ) </div><div>
</div><div>I used to buy oreos and then eat the thing in two days to justify getting it out of the house.. Guess what. eating it now or eating it later, it's still the same calories.. and the longer you put off eating the stuff, the less likely you will buy more and eat MORE bad calories.. and the less likely you are to even eat the crap you did buy. </div><div>You're old enough to get married, you are old enough to prep healthful meals for the week. </div>
  • throw away your pudding. ick. anything that lasts for years in a cupboard is poison in my book.

start today or you will forever keep making excuses.  I know you can be successful if you make a plan, stick with it, and become motivated.

<div>I've never bought pudding before in my life I avoid all products with high fructose corn syrup I will never buy them again. Got sick of the yogurt and was in pain late one night and would throw up the the next dose of yogurt and pain meds so I went to the closest opened store - Walmart thats as much as they had, grabbed as much as I could so I wouldnt have to make such a trip again. I had my 4 wisdom teeth taken out it hurts and I couldnt eat for days it still hurts I have to be gently so I dont bust open my incisions and further complicate my life. </div><div>
</div><div>Im exhausted from the last 3-4 months activites so Im getting plenty rest. Dont worry I'll fit into my dress fine and will lose the weight I've balanced things out a bit more for the up coming months.</div><div>
</div><div>Its a different twist I just felt like sharing, while most people were striving to lose weight to fit into a dress I bought a dress my size and outgrew it. </div>

<div>I totally agree on the poison part. That's why I'm going for a cleanse afterwards.</div><div>
</div><div>My plan is to start May 1st ;)  If Im off the pain meds I'll do a cleanse if not I'll do juicing and with oatmeal, potatoes etc to.Im eating that stuff more now actually just having like 1 pudding a day. I'll join the daily blog re work out and trust me that by July the 10lbs will be gone. </div>
  • *sigh*
Cleanses are also jokes.. They just starve your body.. and that's not good.

Why are you waiting until May 1st exactly? Just because of this yogurt/pudding stash you have acquired? Because it's always easy to say you are going to do something tomorrow... tomorrow.. tomorrow..

Not that yogurt has to be bad (I'm eating a nonfat greek yogurt as I type this :P ) but the packaged pudding.. well it's like you said.. not so super. But a "cleanse" isn't going to fix that.. just fixing your diet with flush all of it out just fine.

GL with the weight loss, OP. Do it safely!

<div>I disagree I've done the master cleanse just the juice for 3 days and it totally worked I wasnt trying to lose weight, I was feeling sluggish overworked and just fatigued and it gave me this insane burst of energy. That was about two years ago. Im gonna try the juicing cleanse where I get the nutrients without the chemicals. The cleanse helps to purge my system of the toxins from the chemically altered junk I've been feeding on. Its more about resetting my metabolism that has slowed some since all I do is eat sleep and take meds for the last three weeks. </div><div>
</div><div>Girl can I mail you some? I went to Whole Foods and bought over $90 worth of organic yogurt from greek to heaven knows what else. In every flavor available. I was taking one dose of antibiotics and didnt want to end up with a yeast or cadida infection. So I went all out well obviously too far out since I bought the puddings I havent touched a yogurt. But will when I get back to work. </div><div>
</div><div>Yeah by May 1st Im anticipating being healed enough to eat regularly and/or being off pain meds. My stash should run out by then too. I'll be taking yogurt and pudding to work. </div><div>
</div><div>No excuses I'm gonna go get some water now I ran out! Plus mail off my free honeymoon. </div><div>
</div><div>BWT if you arent getting married soon GO TO A BRIDES EXPO!!!!! I won a free honeymoon at a resort of my choice (designated selections and countries) I had to go to one of those sales meetings where they try to sell you their stuff it was cookware I bought some because I happen to have too many nonstick stuff in my kitchen But I get $1000 worth of coupons and a free sharp knife and other discounts as well. </div><div>
</div><div>People won everything from dresses to cakes to photo session etc etc. </div>
  • I think this thread just got ADD!
  • Just throw away the pudding. I'm sorry putting it off until May 1st isn't helping you at all. I'm sorry that you had your wisdom teeth taken out, it sucks and yes soft foods help big time. But you have other options. Homemade apple sauce is amazing, there are ways to have healthy food even with all this. Please stop making excuses and just do it. You'll feel better.

    <div>lulz. little bit. </div><div>
    </div><div>
</div><div>OP, what kind of cleanse are we talking about here? </div><div>Because if it was all a bunch of fruit juicing.. DUH you felt energy. THat's a shitton of sugar in your system. I would feel energized too... ALthough you mentioned something about chemicals which is a huge red flag.. glad you're NOT going down that road this time.. </div>
  • Join the 90 day Body by Vi Challenge.  I lost 6 pounds in my first week.  The shakes by themselves taste like cake mix and are amazing, but can also be mixed with other things to create shakes that taste like apple pie, peanut butter cup, etc.  When compared to other products on the market, Vi shakes are lower in calories and carbs and have no added sugar.  It will taste great and leave you feeling fuller longer.  Check out this website and let me know if you have questions :)

With Body by VI, your goal is definitely possible.

  • Woahwoahwoahwoahwoahwoah... Come on girl!!!! Your plan is to wait until the pudding is gone and then do the master cleanse? That sounds like a recipe for disaster to me!! What if you find out half way through that you hate the master cleanse and don't want to do it anymore? You'll still be stuck with the pudding weight and will be even closer to your wedding date! I myself am an excuse machine, and allowed myself to gain FIFTY POUNDS while doing the, "I'll start my cleanse on Monday but for now I'm going to eat the chow mein" method. It does not work!!!  Calories in, calories out, girl! Also, I like watching the Biggest Loser for inspiration :) Good luck good luck good luck! I believe you can do this!!!!
