Help me pick my sash!

I had my first dress fitting today! When I bought my dress I tried it on with a champagne colored Mokumba ribbon sash. I wanted to try on and see if i liked something with a little sparkle so I tried some on today.

To give a little information about myself/style - I am not a bling girl by any means. I consider my style to be classic and preppy. I really like the simplicity of the Mokumba ribbon, especially with the bow in the back. However, I'm worried I will regret not adding a little sparkle.

I'm really not sure what to do - go with the original one that I think is more "me" or dress it up a little bit. I would love to get your opinions.

  • Are you going to be wearing jewelry? I think you can bling up with jewelry and keep the plain sash. Looks great!
  • Both are beautiful but I voted for the plain sash because I love the bow in the back!
  • Love the plain sash! I actually think it makes more of a statement than the jeweled one and will look great with jewlery. I'm the same type plainish.

Go with your first instinct, and do the plain sash (unless you're in love w/ the jeweled). I love the simplicity of it and to me, it feels more elegant! As PP said, you can always add some sparkle with jewelry/ a hair piece :) Beautiful!

  • I like both, but I said the plain sash.  The bling one is very pretty, but it almost seems to me like the texture of this sash doesn't really go with the texture of your lace dress.  What about the sashes that are satin with a little less bling on them?  I think that would look nice.

  • Have you thought about combining?  I like the jewled one but think it needs something behind it to separate it from the detailed lace.  Either way both are beautiful!!
  • I actually did a plain sash with my modern trousseau lace gown and I loved it, I think the jeweled one takes away from the dress a little.
  • You look lovely!

I think the plain one goes with your dress better. Something about the separation of the bling sections on the jeweled one doesn't photograph well, it looks choppy to me.

  • Thanks everyone - I'm going with the plain! It was my original choice and the one I really do love the most!

  • If you want to add some sparkle in stead of a bow in the back fold over the sash and pin it with a vintage brooch.... my sister is doing that for her BM dresses, my idea, and tey look beautiful. Just a thought!
