Are you getting your FI a gift ...

for the day of the wedding? I would like to, but I'm lost at what to get him really. I want it to be something meaningful, but everything I think of is too "girly".

Re: Are you getting your FI a gift ...

  • No gift besides myself walking down the aisle, putting a ring on it, and saying I DO.  We are gut renovating a house so the additional expense is not in our budget.
  • I'm getting him a watch. Its something that he'd never buy himself but he always talks about getting a nice watch.

This. I think I will write a note and have it hand delivered to his room. Besides, I can't afford the watch he wants.

This. Our wedding is on our 2-yr anniversary, and his B-day is 6 days later. So I always try to get him a big gift to cover both, and do something special on his B-day. I got him this watch as an Anniversary/B-day gift last year. Since FI is unemployed, I've been working insane amounts of overtime to pay for our wedding, so that's his wedding gift. I'll probably just take him out for a nice dinner or a massage this year for his B-Day gift.

  • FI is really into books so I am having all our emails, cards and letters printed and bound in a book.  I am also including my journal pages from when we first started dating and I talk about cute and funny he is and I hope he kisses me on the next date.  It is a little girly but I am trying ot make it more of a book and not a scrapbook.

I really like the idea of having a note delivered to his hotel room.  I might do that as well!

This. We just bought a house in December and are finishing the basement and both have debt coming in (student loans and a line of credit for the basement), as well FI's bday is in April and mine is in May...so one more gift is just an extra expense, we decided to book an outtrip on the cruise with that money as our gift to eachother since its something we can do together that will be amazing, instead of trying to come up with another "thing to buy" before the wedding.

  • I am engraving his father's retiring "wings" .  His father passed away 3 years ago and he is having a hard time knowing his dad won't be at the wedding.  So I thought I would remind him that his dad will be there.  I asked his mom for one of FI's dad's pins from the airline and having it engraved with our wedding date.  Other than that...just going to write a mushy love card and have his bm give it to him for me.  Awww

Ditto!  I would love to do B-pics, but I don't want to add the stress of everything.  Maybe for the 1 or 5 year anniversary :)
