intimate ceremony sites in Scottsdale

Hi everyone, I'm new to this board. We got engaged recently and it will the second and last wedding for us both. We see our wedding playing out like this:

-intimate wedding for 12 people (4 kids, 8 adults including us) in Scottsdale area followed by a nice dinner at our fav steakhouse

-reception for friends and family -- maybe 50 to 75 people. Open house style from 4 to 7 p.m. Some type of live music, heavy apps and open bar.

Questions:
-Any suggestions on a wedding ceremony site for a small group of 12. We're open to spontaneous, public ideas (e.g. near LOVE statue at Civic Center, base of mountain) or more traditional ceremony sites. Want to know the good and bad of any public sites. Also want to know good private sites for small group of 12. Of course we want pretty pictures and would like to be in Scottsdale area...

-Any suggestions on reception sites in scottsdale for our group? Would like something more contemporary since it will not be a traditional reception. Came across some ideas on the Web like Sassi, Taliesen West and Regale. Any pros or cons with those listed or suggestions to fit our vision?

Thank you and I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you!

I don't know too much about Scottsdale area venues, but wanted to say welcome and congratulations on your engagement!

I'm sure some of the ladies here will have some ideas for you.  =)

Sassi does not treat small groups well.  If your party isn't large enough to book their banquet room then they really aren't interested in your business.   They may be better to larger groups, but talking to them about a reception for 40-50 left a bad taste in my mouth.  They acted as if they were doing me the favor by letting me consider having my reception there!

Taliesin West would probably be a gorgeous site for a small wedding.  I looked into it, but they didn't seem to have great space for a larger wedding (about 80).

We toured Regale as well and I personally loved it (wasn't FI's favorite so we didn't book there), but I don't know how well it would work to have just the ceremony there, as it's really just in a park in the DC Ranch area.

We're having our wedding (ceremony & rececption) at Regale. Tony & Linda are amazing to work with, and the venue is really unique. We're having the ceremony in the plaza of Market Street, and it can be as large or as intimate as you'd like. The venue itself is also really unique, and is perfect for a group of 50-75. You should definitely check it out soon, because once the word starts getting out about this place, they're going to book fast. Also, Tony has been in the wedding industry for a long time, so he has great suggestions for vendors. Good luck with the planning! There's also some really cool photo ops along Market Street, so you'll be able to get some beautiful pictures as well as some really unique shots as well.

If you are looking for something different and not a typical banquet hall, check out the Kerr Cultutral Center.  It'a not for everyone, but it is small enough to make it cozy and intimate.

You should look at the Hermosa Inn... so pretty and they have little gardens and areas for any size you want.
