Affordable Weddings in Austin, TX

Hi -

I am from Houston, TX and plan to have our wedding in Austin.  We have a pretty modest budget of $10,000, so we are trying to find someplace to get married in Austin that is both nice and affordable.  Our wedding will be small, approximately 50 people, so that will help, but all the possible places seems a bit overwhelming.  Does anyone has any suggestions?

Thank You!

Wow! You are just like me! My fiance and i both live in Houston too and are geeting hitched in the austin area. we also have a budget of $10,000. We are aiming at about 100 people though. Since both of our families live just North of Austin I have found some good looking venues (looks good as in on the web pages) up that way. This is the list of places that my Future Mother in Law, my Mother and Myself have found:
    Barr Mansion
    Kindred Oaks
    Heritage Oaks Clubhouse
    Chateau on the Creek
    Vista on Seward Hill
    Arbor Point Event Center
    The Page House
    The Inn at Wildrose Hall
    McMurtrie Farms

I have seen Kindred Oaks in person and love it. They also have a fantastic sunday special. I am trying to convince my mom that we should just have it there but she insists on looking at more places cuz "you never know". So the end of this month hopefully I will have seen at least a couple more on the list to satisfy mom. She is right in that "you never know" I could find someplace better.

If these places are to far north then there seem to be some nice places near Kyle area. Also I hear Laguna Gloria is wonderful. Feel free to message me. Smile

Just a heads up: Barr Mansion is a little on the pricey side.  It's more for a $25k+ budget.  Laguna Gloria is also pretty expensive.

Chapel Dulcinea is an outdoor chapel and it's FREE! We will have 45-50 people. We also rented out a riverboat for our reception. Very fun, funky, and so informal. We are loving it!

FI and I are getting married at Vintage Villas and our budget is $10,000. Their food, facility, and customer service is excellent.

Also check out San Michele in Buda! It's SO beautiful, and very affordable! I was married there last October, and our guests were raving about how beautiful everything was.

Virginia is super helpful and nice, but is definitely easier to reach by phone. In fact, email is pretty much a waste of time. Be sure to tell Virginia Liz and David Baughier sent you. :)

I think if you are only having 50 people then you should be able to get married pretty much anywhere in Austin for $10,000. There are tons of gorgeous places in Austin, so maybe if you said what your style was or what look you are going for when it comes to your wedding, maybe we can help you narrow it down.

My fiance and I are also from Houston having an Austin Wedding, we just booked Vista on Seward HIll.  So far, it seems very budget friendly!  I do know that when I was doing my pricing, we were unable to afford Barr Mansion, it was just too pricey.  Some others we looked at that seemed affordable that we really liked were Chateau Bellevue and Villa St. Clair.  Good luck!!!   Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for all the great tips!!

We would like to have an outdoor wedding and somewhere in between formal and casual.  The places I have really liked (but were already booked) were the Allan House.  I liked it b/c it had character and class :).   Chateau on the Creek was also already booked. :(

I also really liked the idea of a Riverboat for the reception.  That is something we hadn't even thought to consider.

I really like the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum, but haven't heard back on dates.

Thank you for all the suggestions.  I'll keep checking the post.

check out Heritage oaks clubhouse in Georgetown.
www.heritageoaksclubhouse.com - One of our groomsmen got married there. They rent for $100 per hour, or $1200 for the day. Super pretty - for your guests it would give you plenty of room for tables and a large dance floor. They provide tables and chairs. You will really be impressed at how much you get for the price.

I am attempting to have a wedding of about 180 people for $10K. The one thing we splurged on was our venue- Star Hill Ranch. I absolutely love it. I think a fellow knottie somethingsweeting had about 75 people at her wedding there... and she had a gorgeous wedding for $8k. PP are right though... with just 50 people, there are tons of places that should fit your budget.

Chapel Dulcinea will save you TONS of money as it is free, and then you could have a really fabulous reception. I love the riverboat suggestion!

I'll be getting married on Apirl 1 at Mercury Hall (both ceremony and reception site) with a catered lunch and alcohol and the total wedding is around $5-7K.  We are having the wedding on a Thursday at 11 AM - Mercury Hall is only $500 for Monday - Thursday day time events!  We invited around 140 people and will have about 80.  There are some people who can't make it because of the Thursday but for the most part everyone I thought would be there is able to make it so I would encourage you to consider non weekend days. I got a lot of inspiration from www.2000wedding.com

Hey all, I'm a photography vendor (new here - fumbling around the site trying to figure out how to get listed as a vendor on TheKnot ) here in Austin. As a vendor one idea I'm open to that can save a client a ton of money is getting married on a day other than Saturday. Vendors will often discount quite a bit for 'off peak' wedding dates. I've spoken with owners of several venues here, including Eva at La Villa Vista (someone mentioned them earlier), and they are very open to the idea. When you are contacting vendors, see if they can give you a discount if you get married on a day other than Saturday. Good luck and hope this helps. :)

Check out Barr Mansion!  I DID NOT spend $25,000 and had a beautiful wedding there...on a Sunday.  If you're willing to do a Friday or a Sunday, it's really possible.  The site itself is so beautiful that you don't have to go overboard with decor and flowers.  My coordinator, Abby, was amazing.  We did a buffet, which saved $$. Despite what everyone thinks, you can watch your budget there...you just have to communicate what you're able to do with your coordinator and they'll make it happen.  My photos are up, if it helps with a visual: http://jakeholt.instaproofs.com/collection.php?event=189427
