Rustic/Barn Venue?

My fiance and I are looking for an outdoor, but covered, venue for both ceremony and reception somewhere between our two families. So we need something between Two Rivers, WI and Minneapolis, MN that can accomodate our guestlist of around 120-150 and isn't going to be ridiculously priced. We've been thinking possibly a rustic barn, but I'm having trouble coming up with results. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

There is a post near the end of this page: http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/local-wedding-boards_wisconsin_barn-needed-reception that may have some helpful links in it!

    Good luck!

If you're thinking of the Enchanted Barn in Hillsdale, take into consideration the time of year and guest accomodations. I have never been to a wedding there myself but had lots of friends and family attend weddings there (I'm from the Hillsdale area, and my mom lives in Hillsdale). As far as I know, there is no heat or air conditioning. So if its really hot or really cold, you need to let your guests know to dress accordingly. Also, Hillsdale's population is "Unincorporated" and is basically 5 houses and a church "in town" and the rest of Hillsdale is made up of country homes. There are NO hotels in Hillsdale, and there is only 1 motel that you'd really want to stay at within 15 miles (in Barron) which will in no way be able to accomodate your number of guests. For the rest, they'd have to stay in Rice Lake, with is about 30 minutes away). Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely charming, and if you're going for rustic, you'll get rustic. Friends and family who have been there could only describe it as "BEAUTIFUL". It really is a great option in the area and about 2 hours from Minneapolis... Just make sure you keep those things in mind :)

I have been to the Enchanted Barn in Rice Lake and it was amazing. Probably the prettiest and most meaningful wedding I've ever been to. And it sounds like it's right where you want to be. It is pretty rustic (porta potties) but if you are a laid back person than it should be ok. No one we were with minded. However, transportation was an issue. They had a shuttle come and pick people up but you know how it goes...when drunk people want to leave, they want to leave NOW. Ultimately they had few people utilize the shuttle but other than that, it was a gorgeous location for a laid back wedding. The horses run around in the pasture next to the barn and it's just SO pretty! Good Luck

This may not be in the area you're wishing for, but try The Family Farm in Grafton, WI.  I wouldn't necessarily call it "rustic" but the hall is in a remodeled barn.  It's quite charming.
