Let it snow

Apparently even though I live in Michigan, where we get quite a lot of snow, people drive likes asshats during the first snowfall of the year.  It was very slightly flurrying this morning, the roads weren't slippery as no snow had actually accumulated on them and people on the freeway were still going 45 in the left hand lane.  Seriously people?  I have pretty bad road rage, not like run people off the road, but the yell obscenities kind.  Let's just say it was bad, it's something I need to work on.

But the snow made me think of some snow related questions for Wednesday.

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?

Do you participate in any winter sports?

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?

Does your office have snow days?

    I love snow!

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?
Yes it does. New England is very well known for our ridiculous amounts of snow.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
No but I would love to go skiing, I'm trying to get BF to go. He's the one who won't ever do things in the winter.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
I love to play in the snow. Build snowmen, chase the dogs and make snow angels. My least favorite thing has to be the cold. If it could snow and be warm that would be awesome.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Build snowmen and go sledding. Also try to get together with friends and play outside then watch movies with hot chocolate inside.

Does your office have snow days?
No, but they understand if people don't come in because of snow. Sometimes if it is really bad, they shut down the town and then work closes.

Fav:  Watching it fall from my warm apt, with a blanket and hot cocoa
Least Fav: Driving in the snow, maybe because I totalled a car in Jan09

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
watch tv, sledding with my neighbor

Does your office have snow days?
Only if there's a state of emgerancy, aka the roads are closed.

Let me start with I. Love. SNOW.

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?
Yes ma'am it does! It  is snowing right now and it makes me so happy.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
I don't participate in any sports unless you cound snow angel making.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
BEST- Everything seems to quiet when it snows, it's so white and pretty, I have awesome snowboots.. I can go on and on
WORST- When the roads and dirt make the snow dirty.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Sleep or do hood rat suff with my frans.

Does your office have snow days?
Not officially but if roads are bad no one usually comes in. I work in the middle or Detroit which means the the roads down here won't get plowed until...April.

    Yes.  All the time.

Do you participate in any winter sports?

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
It's pretty.  It's cold and wet.

Like, once every 40 years. We had light flurries down here for about 10 minutes last year and the entire state shut down. It was kinda ridiculous.

Do you participate in any winter sports?

Not really. I used to go sledding when I lived in OH, that was about it.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
I love, love, love fresh white Christmas snow, especially on tree branches, so pretty. Or the way your hair looks when it's just dusted with it. I hate when it gets to be about February and all the pretty white snow has turned mucky grey slush.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
If we had closure due to slow, we'd go build snow forts or go sledding. If it was due to temperature (more often than not), we stayed inside.

Does your office have snow days?
No, but we have hurricane days. That's a whole different brand of speshul.

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?

Definitely! It's already started, I can see snow on the roof tops of office buildings around me. Although, after today's rain it should disappear.

Do you participate in any winter sports?

I'm learning to curl this winter and I also go snowshoeing. BF is wanting to start skiing again, so we may get into both cross country and downhill. He'll have to reintroduce himself to them and I'll have to learn. BF also plays hockey.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?

    Favourite:
When I don't have to be anywhere and I'm totally prepared if the power goes out, I love a good snowstorm. Being inside with hot chocolate and playing boardgames and the aftermath when you are snowed in and can't go anywhere but it is calm enough to play outside.

    Least:
When you have to go out in a snowstorm and other people's driving.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?

If it was a legit snow day and the storm was all day we'd stay inside and play boardgames. If it was stormy in the morning and then cleared up we'd play outside.

Does your office have snow days?

Technically no, however people are understanding here. If we know a snowstorm is coming people are encouraged to work from home or to leave early.  Mind you, because people are understanding, when people from further out make it in and people that live close by don't they are looked at a little more critically.

I should probably stop sucking and answer my own questions.  I need to get it together.

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?
Unfortunately it does...I hate the snow.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
I used to ice skate, but unless extreme shoveling is a sport, then no.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
Favorite: it can be pretty and I do like white Christmases.
Least favorite:  Everything else, but especially driving in it.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
We used to build snow forts and have epic snowball fights then come in and have cocoa and tomato soup with grilled cheese.  Winter staples right there.

Does your office have snow days?
We only close down if the capital does.

About once every 5 or 10 years.  We got about 4 inches during a random storm last year, so we probably won't see any again for a while.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
    Short answer:  No
I'm going skiing next week, for the second time in my life, and I'm scared to death.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
Favorite think:  catching it on my tongue?
    Least favorite:  Cold and wet.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
When they happened (and they were rare), we spent pretty much the whole day outside enjoying the snow.

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy? Yes, but not very much - they don't even plow OR salt the roads when it snows.  Therefore, there are lots of asshats here.  It snowed on our way home from Thanksgiving in WV though, so that counts.  After getting caught in a blizzard last year, we check for blizzards before we leave for snowy locales.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
Nope, but I ski sometimes, but I'm not good at it.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
It's pretty and the air smells good.  I don't like that it's cold/wet.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Play in the snow for HOURS.  Make forts, snowball fights.  We were pretty much a movie family ;)

Does your office have snow days?
Yes, because I work in a school.  We also have hurricane days and almost had a tornado day today.  Special.

Today is our first day of snow!! I'm so excited :) It looks like a snow globe outside.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
    Nope.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
Favorite: How it looks when a fresh blanket comes down.
Least Favorite: The black slush that it makes around the curbs in Chicago. Ick to look at and to step in.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Build snow forts outside with my siblings!

Does your office have snow days?
No. . . occasionally they will "cancel classes" for the night, but I don't have classes anymore, so it doesn't affect me.

It snows like crazy where I go to college. In fact it started last night and we have a decent dusting right now.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
Snow tubing and i went ice skating once. Mostly just sledding.

What's your favorite thing about snow?
That its pretty to watch fall. Occasional class cancellations

    What's your least favorite thing?
Riding the bus while it skids on the ice or falling 3 times omw to class because ice hates me.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Where I grew up I did not get real snow days, we had cold rain days. I didn't see real snow until i came to college. My snow days now are filled with giant snowman building, and sledding.  Last year we stumbled upon an epic igloo...

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?
I live on the surface of the sun.  No, it doesn't.  My family lives in RI, so it does up there, and BF's family is from Syracuse, so we definitely see snow when we visit them.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
Skiing, ice skating, I enjoy them both!  But I don't do them often or well.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?

It's pretty outside when you have a fire going and can curl up with a book.  It's cold.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
My family lives on the corner of a circular neighborhood, so the snow plow used to scoop up all the snow and push it onto our yard, so my brother and I would carve caves into the snow.  There were a few cave-ins, and we probably could have died once or twice, but we were smart enough (or lucky enough) to have one person out of the cave each time it collapsed to pull the other one out by their feet.

Does your office have snow days?
Haha... no.  But we have a beach day next week!  Because we earned a record-breaking amount with our last event, they are giving us the day off and picking up the tab at a beach day at a fancy hotel on South Beach.  It's going to be hilarious to see my colleagues all wasted!

I could make igloos without tops. My mom said that they'd cave in on me and I'd die. I think I went in a neighbor kids igloo once. It was while mom was at work and auntie was babysitting of course.

    Yes.

There's a place by the college called Hospital Hill.  We live close to it, and all the kdis go out in the middle of the night when it's snowing and ride down it on laundry baskets, trashcan lids, anything that will slide.
It's dangerous!!!  Someone brought a tractor tire tube last year.  It worked best.  Roomies came home in pain from wrecking it.

What's your favorite thing about snow?
    Nothing.  I'm ready for summer.

    What's your least favorite thing?
     The cold.  I'm a wuss.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
     Make Snow Cream.

Does your office have snow days?
Nope.  Apparently beer delivery is the same as the post office.  I have heard Urban legends that they shut down one day like 8 years ago.

Ha ha it is even worse here in LA. I am from north east Ohio so I am used to driving in really bad weather. In LA if it even drizzles I swear the whole city comes to a stand still. People do not know how to drive period here let alone when it rains.

Does it snow where you live?  If not do you travel anywhere snowy?
    -
No it does not. Back home to Ohio, FI's home in Wisconsin and up to Big Bear.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
    -
I used to snowboard when I lived in Ohio but don't have much time to make the couple hour drive up to Big Bear that much.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
    -
Favorite- the beauty. Least favorite- brushing of my car before going any where and getting all wet.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
    -
Play in the snow and stay home an watch tv.

No we do not. I think they have earthquake days though.

    Yes it does! Minnesota...

Do you participate in any winter sports?
I love to downhill ski, although I'm not too great at it.  It is lots of fun though! Sledding also rocks. And last year, I got to go dog sledding! That was really awesome too.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
Favorite thing: How pretty it is when it's on the trees.
Least favorite thing: That it is cold and wet.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Sled down the front yard hill and then down the street.  Also fill spay bottles with food dye and water and paint in the snow.

Does your office have snow days?
My college did once last year, but no not often.

Yep. We get lots of snow in VT. Except today it's in the 50's and raining. WTF?

Do you participate in any winter sports?
These days just sledding and snowball fights. I used to ski and snowboard. In fact, for Christmas, I've booked a beginners snowboard trip for myself and BF.

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
    Favorite - It's so pretty
Least favorite - Driving in it (I do a lot of driving for work, which invariably takes me into the middle of nowhere during a raging blizzard)

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
My brother and I would build these elaborate sled trails. I'm surprised we survived childhood without breaking our necks.

Does your office have snow days?
Not really. I've only seen this place close twice in over a decade. Plus I live across the street from the office, so I loose the 'bad roads' excuse.

Very rarely. It's crazy when it does though. Lots of tourists take pictures in front of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign and Las Vegas drivers get into multiple accidents. Sometimes BF and I will go to Mt. Charleston, just outside of Vegas to play in the snow.

Do you participate in any winter sports?
    nope

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
I love how magical everything looks when it snows. It makes the Christmas season so much more special. Last year was the first Christmas season I can remember having with snow, and that's only because I was studying in Germany.

My least favorite part is the cold. I despise cold weather. The bad driving and car accidents also sucks.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
There were never many of these. Mostly we all made like three snowballs each, and by then the snow had melted or had been all used up.

Does your office have snow days?
Sort of. Everyone is allowed to go play in the snow since it's such a big deal, but I don't think we've ever gone home early or cancelled work.

Yes. IN FACT it's been snowing here all day. I hate snow.

Do you participate in any winter sports?

No. I can't even ice skate, true story. BF used to be a hockey player so he's determined to get me onto an ice rink sometime (not happening).

What's your favorite thing about snow?  What's your least favorite thing?
I like snow on Christmas because it's festive and I'm warm inside.
I hate snow because it makes my car stuck, makes it slippery to drive, melts in my hair, used to make my glasses all blurry, it's cold and slushy. And snowballs hurt.

What did you used to do on snow days when you were a kid?
Snow forts. All the time. I had a bunch of neighbourhood friends and we would all get together and make giant igloo type forts.

Does your office have snow days?
Hmmm I guess. I don't work at the office in the winter. But the school doesn't have snow days.

That's silly. Our highways here are 100 km/h for a limit, and it's pretty common to go about 125 (or even over but most people go around 120-125) so I can't imagine that. Especially for the left lane.
