July 2012 Weddings

Tell me about your 4th!

We went to this thing called Brewpendence Day at a new local brewery. It was pretty much a cluster. You had to wait 40+ minutes in line to buy caps, then you had to go to a different line to wait another 20+ minutes and use said caps to get beer. Too confusing and they were understaffed. I think they underestimated the number of people who would attend.

We ended up leaving and going back to my dad's where we ordered pizza, drank beer, set off illegal fireworks, and climbed on the roof to watch the fireworks around the city. We had an awesome 360º degree view of Richmond. Pretty good 4th overall.

What did y'all do?

Re: Tell me about your 4th!

  • I had the best day :)

FI and I went to the beach on Tuesday night and stayed with my cousin who is down for the week.  On Wednesday him and I were up and out pretty early and set ourselves up on the beach for the rest of the day.  We just relaxed and chatted and it was such a beautiful day.  We took a walk on the boardwalk for lunch at our favorite pizza place.  We decided we had enough sun around 5 and headed home to have dinner with his dad and stepmom and then we went home and crashed.
  • Fiance and I had a very productive and not at all relaxing day :)  Got stuff for safari, bought the camera and lens for safari, figured out groomsmen's gifts, finished seating chart (well, I thought we had . . . anyway), printed and assembled half of our programs. I went to the gym for an hour and then we went out for dinner.

  • Fi's dad came over at 9 am, and the three of us started installing bamboo flooring at the entry to the house and down the hall so we can have new carpet installed next week!!  The new carpet is going in the living room and two bedrooms.  We've been working on rennovating my living room for a long time...so this is pretty exciting.  FI's mom, cousin and her family came over later in the day too, so after we finished, we grilled and made homemade ice cream.  It was an exhausting, yet great day....but I am hitting the caffeine hard this morning.

FI's always joked that his parents would rather see me than him, but last night he said his dad was completely taken with me now because when it was just the three of us, my main task was cutting boards using the chop saw. FFIL = impressed!
  • I had work, but it was a designated work from home day to test our IT systems for the Olympics, so it wasn't too bad. FI had his last exam of the year, so afterwards we went out to celebrate with some American friends we have here at a Carolina BBQ restaurant - it was soooo good!

  • You have a Carolina BBQ restaurant in the UK? That is awesome.

  • I did absoluely nothing festive!  Instead, FI and I went to lunch at a diner, we ran some errands, FI had to go into work at 3:00pm.  I then spent the night ribbons and attaching tags to our favors... lol  so exciting!

  • We slept in, made amazing omelettes. Waited for the sun to come out and then layed at the pool and bbq'd. We had sparklers. FI thought we would be able see fireworks from the backyard, but couldn't see a thing :-( That's alright, we are going to Sea World this weekend to see theirs to make up for it :-)

  • We went to fireworks on Tuesday evening after work. They were awesome, but one of them set the forest on fire! So there were kind of two shows lol They were at a place called Old Sturbridge Village...it's like a historical live museum and there was a tornado on their property last year. I guess it made for a lot of dead brush that caught fire. They got it under control, thankfully!

Yesterday FI got up at 5am to smoke a roast at his parents house. I got up at 9am lol and went for a run, did laundry, went to the grocery store, and made some food for the cookout at FILs. We were there for about 4 hours...lots of wedding talk! Everyone's getting excited :) It was fun and the weather was pretty nice for everything!

  • My son was in the parade here in town with the boyscouts, they rode their bikes. Since FI had the day off I took advantage of the fact he was home and the house needed a deep clean before FI GM flys in on Friday. My son who is 6 has been terrified of fireworks since he was a baby. So we decided just to have a day in. A park in our reigon was having a firework show that we wanted to go to but because of son we opted out. But at 9:30 I looked out the balcony window and we got a full firework show from the park! Son was already asleep by then but our daughter who is 1 was still up! We took her out on the balcony and watched the show. Daughter loved it! This was her first time seeing them considering last year she was only a few months old.

  • Slept in then had dinner at FI's parents house and watched fireworks from all the neighbors. That pretty much covers it

</div><div>I love Old Sturbridge Village / went there every year in elementary school for a field trip.  </div><div>
</div><div>We walked to fireworks near our house on Tuesday night.  Yesterday we got up late and made yummy pancakes and then did wedding projects all day.  My parents came over and my mom helped me and we finished a bunch of stuff.  My father helped my FI do a bunch of other NWR projects around the house because I swear FI is going to stab me with scissors shortly if I make him do anymore WR projects.
