Question about Invites and RSVPs for our excursion

Hey guys,

It's been a long time since I've posted!
I am struggling and am on a time crunch (the coupon code for Wedding Paper Divas ends tomorrow).
Our wedding is in January, my fiance wants to send the invites out ASAP... okay, do we do that? If so, would November be too far out for RSVPs to come back in? We have 50 some people booked already, but my fiance was told by one couple they are waiting until they get an actual invite because they've received save the dates in the past but not an invite.

Then, on top of that... Would it be tacky for me to include an extra RSVP card for our Catamaran/Snorkel trip the monday following the wedding? I'm thinking of just printing something up on nice paper and asking people to include how many people will be joining us for the catamaran/snorkel trip. We've got the catamaran booked and everything, just need ot make sure it doesn't go over 60... in which case I don't know what we would do. i'm just truly nervous that if we have more than 60 people go to the wedding there would be a strong chance there would be more than 60 going on the excursion too. This is going to be our thank you gift for everybody.

You know, I handled a bridesmaid bailing after ordering her dress perfectly fine, but the invites I decide to stress about. I don't get my thought process.

Regardless, any help/input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Re: Question about Invites and RSVPs for our excursion

  • Some of these questions are answered in the DW etiquette post. You should have RSVPs come back about 6-8 weeks before the wedding. If you do it sooner than that, ppl's RSVPs won't always be correct. It'll save you a lot of time and energy to not have the RSVP date out too far. It's fine to have an extra RSVP card for the excursion or you could just include it on the 1 RSVP card.
  • I agree with Kimmy on including the RSVP for the excursion!  I wish we had done this for 2 extra activities that we are hosting, but we did not have all the details yet.  So now we need to do some sort of extra invite/mailing for those activities.

If this helps any - we are having our wedding on Dec 7th, we sent our invites out right around labor day and have an RSVP date of Oct 15th.  So that is about 7 weeks before the wedding.

  • Our wedding is January 4th, and we are asking for RSVPs by Nov. 16th, so I think your plan sounds fine. I'm not sending out the invites for a few more weeks though.
