Madison Reception Venue Suggestions - pics if you got them

Hi all,

Has anyone had their reception at any of the downtown Madison venues like Monona Terrace, Inn on the Park, Concourse Hotel, Edgewater, or Overture?  I'm looking for something that is reasonably priced but in the downtown area.  I'm hoping others can share their experiences with any of this places.

I've just started looking at a few.  I found that the Monona Terrace really nickels and dimes you on everything - plus I don't think they have a kid's meal.  I like the Inn on the Park (top of the park room) but don't think it will be big enough.  My other top pick is the Concourse but I don't think they have a view.  I haven't really looked into the Edgewater or the Overture yet.

Also, if anyone has pics of actual weddings at any of these places - that would be wonderful - I always find that to be very helpful.
Thanks!

The Masonic Center is downtown (corner of Wisconsin and W Johnson) and it has a beautiful ballroom.  The room starts at $450 for 3 hours (I think) and then $50 for every hour after that.  The food is relatively cheap (about $16-20/plate and they have a children's menu for $7).  The alcohol is a little more than I'd like, but I don't know how it compares to other locations.  I really love it and I'm so glad we went with it!

The pics don't do it justice, it's so much prettier in person, but here's some I took the day we visited:

I am going with Debbie on the Masonic Center.  We are getting married there in November, and I couldnt imagine a better venue to work with!
I updated my bio on 06/24/10, however if you want to see my planning bio you have to go to www.lizardlipsplanningbio.weebly.com because I am having a hard time making it clicky!

Mine was at the concourse. They were okay. Not great. They charged for a lot of things that I though they should have probably just thrown in. It took forever to get a person assigned to my wedding. They kind of screwed up the open bar charges (which they corrected) and they lost my cake topper. I was really angry about that. I donno all in all it wasn't bad. They did work with us on a lot of things and they were nice. I would say that if I was doing it again I wouldn't have it there. Thats only partly because of the service and the rest is just I would want a more ornate ballroom.

I had mine at the Concourse also and I thought it was great! It was nice to have a specific person assigned to our wedding (we had a person right away) who we could talk to from the beginning and who made sure that everything was set up correctly the night of the reception. The service we received was wonderful and they were very attentive to us throughout the night. I would recommend the Concourse. I'd add some pictures but I haven't got my pro pics back yet.

Mine will be at the Monona Terrace.  The meals are reasonable... but like you said, they nickle and dime you on everything else.  They do have a few kids meal options (chicken fingers, spag and meatmalls) they are about $10.

I just went to a wedding at the Concourse and it was lovely, but you are right it does not have a view.

Check out the Madison Club.  I am a recent bride but also a photographer and have shot many a weddings there.  They have a view, and a great location.  Obviously dont know much about the prices though.

All the photos I have taken there though I shot for a company though so unfortunately I dont have any photos in my possession to share.  But here is their site.

Thanks Ladies!  Your input has been great!  I think I am torn between the Concourse and the Monona Terrace and now the Masonic Temple (thanks Debbie44 for the pics).  I'm going to see if I can negotiate with them to see what each can offer to help me decide. Excite - I would love to have it at the Madison Club, but sadly it is out of my price range - but it sure is beautiful!

    Thanks again ladies!!!

Inn on the Park was great.. everyone loved the view during the cocktail hour and the ballroom was the perfect size for our 250 guests!

I would check into The Brink Lounge! They're food seems very reasonable, and their hall is beautiful!

What is the maximum capacity at the Brink Lounge?
