Recomendations

Hello Rhode Island Brides,
I am in the beginning process of wedding planning and would really love some help with photographers and deejays. First, if price was not really an object, what is everyone's thoughts on top wedding photographers in RI? As for entertainment, I would like to find a deejay who is also a master of ceremony but I don't want to go overboard on this budget. Any advice would really be appreciated! Thank you.

I chose a photog thats new to wedding photography, she had a really good price, I liked her work and she is Super enthusiastic! Her name is Dawn Temple of  bellaria desgins.  But I just saw some photos from Heidi Hope today (newborn and pregnancy photos)and they were fantastic.

We are going with Jimmy Hindle for the DJ, he does a ton of weddings and the wedding I went that he DJed everyone (teens, grandparents and everyone inbetween didn't leave the dance floor all night)

    Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Choosing a pro photographer to preserve your visual memories is a great investment. That said, there is a great pool of talent here in R.I and beyond (MA, CT). The price range varies but experience is definitely key which is why wedding photography can be so expensive. Missing crucial photos is something a skilled photographer won't miss. The post-processing part is also important too. Our photographers, Visual-Obsession edit every single photo so this labor intensive work is part of their pricing structure. Overall, we spent about 3,250 for two pro photographers, full day unlimited coverage and a first look session. The most important thing aside from their professionalism and talent was the chemistry.  Clicking (no pun intended) with your photographer is sooo important as it is so much easier to communicate with them what your expectations are for the wedding day.

My other favorites include Jennifer Leatherwood (MA/R.I), Raw Photo Design (CT), Kristen Spencer ( R.I), Lisa Rigby (MA), Zenobia (R.I), Rebecca Arthurs (R.I)

As for DJs, if I didn't have a live band, I'd hire Victor from Party time! I also like Ramu and the crew. They know how to keep the dance floor alive.

I suggest you use the "search" at the bottom of the board and search photographers.
There are tons and tons and tons of posts about photographers- and usually a post for every price range.

If price doesn't matter then I really love Melissa RObotti and Jennifer Leatherwood (she is known to make any bride look like a model).... there are others too from Boston. I suggest you pick up Southern New England Wedding Mag (the current cover has a girl with a one shoulder dress).. and flip through the "real weddings"...

There are a ton of photos in there and you will find people that you like
I personally like Person and Killian.  (http://www.personkillianblog.com/)

Thank you so very much ladies for your advice. I am going to start looking at all the names you've mentioned. RoyalOrient, the price for visual obsession seems soo reasonable! Thank you for letting me know the price range. i2012do, Melissa Robotti's work does look amazing and I am definitely going to check out Jennifer Leatherwood. Wish me luck!

Eloquent Images by Curtiss is awesome.  He is fun and very talented  I highly recommend him, but the chemistry definitely has to be there for you too with whover you select.  My favorite thing about his wedding photography is that he has a mix of traditional and artistic images.  You never know what you will want on your walls 30 years from now!

We hired Melissa Robotti and are really looking forward to working with her!  She's an absolute doll and does amazing work - more of a photojournalistic style.  We instantly clicked with her upon meeting her and we felt she was someone we would be friends with if we lived in the area.  We met with several other photographers and Melissa made us feel most comfortable.  I especially like that I won't at all mind her being a part of the more intimate/personal moments that take place in the hours leading up to the ceremony when I'm finishing getting ready/dressed, etc.  We met with some male photographers and I started to think, "would I feel awkward at any point with this man around...?"  All in all, Melissa is a doll and understands the emotion of the day and you can see that in her work.  Her website is melissarobotti.com.
As for DJ, we chose Victor from Party Time - what a blast!  I've spoken with him a few times on the phone and his is very energetic and not at all cheesy!  His goal is to get to know his brides and grooms as well as he can before the ceremony so he can do his best to personalize your night and get everyone up and having fun (without all the cheesiness!!!).
    Good luck with your search!

If you can provide me with the date and details of your wedding I can get a very professional and talented DJ/MC for your wedding.

Let me know if you still need help.

    Congrats and best of luck.

I highly recommend DJ Jason Mello.  He's DJ'd a few parties I have been to and I knew I wanted him to DJ my wedding.  He's doing my wedding shower as well. He is very easy to work with and wants to make sure your day is exactly how you want it.  His prices are very good and much more reasonable then a lot of DJ's out there.  He starts at $650 for 6 hours.
    Check out his website http://jasonmellodj.com/
I know you won't be disappointed if you choose him!
