Five Factor System - Thoughts or Suggestions?

Hi Ladies!

I'm trying to lose about 10 - 15 pounds before my wedding at the end of September, although what I'm really concerned about is taking off inches around my waist and hips, and toning my arms. Recently I've been watching that show The Revolution, which led me to looking into Harley Pasternak's 5-Factor diet and dvds. Has anyone here tried them? Did it work? It looks like a very sensible diet but I can't find too much info on the series of dvd's that come with it. He's worked with a lot of celebrities but obviously that's very different from me in front of my dvd player.  :)  Or, if you haven't tried this, what would you suggest for someone in my situation? I'm not overweight and it's just these last pounds that are frustrating me. It's very hard for me to lose weight. Even when I trained for a half marathon last year I didn't lose any weight on a regular running program. Basically, any insight/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!  :)

  • Add weight lifting if you want to lose inches, it will up your metabolism and help get rid of some of the fat.

If you're close to your body's ideal weight then that's why it's so hard to lose those last couple of pounds.

  • agree with PP. Add some weight training or specifically circuit training. Of course watching what you eat is important (I track my calories through sparkpeople but I'm REALLY lenient on the weekend ;)
I don't have a lot of weight to lose but am trying to firm up for my wedding in June. I started tracking my calories (during the week) and I try and stay around 1350-1500 cals a day. I've also been using Jillian Michael's videos (the 30min ones because I get bored way too easily) about 4 times a week. In the last 8 weeks I've lost 10lbs and 13inches. It's not a ton of weight loss but what I'm happiest about is the inches! My body looks soooooo much better and as much as I know eating is a part of it, eating didn't give my arms definition or make my butt lift ;)
Good luck and you have LOTS of time to get where you want to be!
  • Shauna Congratulations on losing 10 pounds in 2 months.  That is great! I liked your advice.Smile

  • Definitely makes sense. It's embarrassing to admit but I used to think that if I added weights then I would bulk up and gain weight. I only focused on cardio. Looks like I'm on the right track. Thank you ladies!
  • Oh and congrats Shauna!!! That is so awesome and exactly what I am hoping to do!! You must be so happy.  :)
