Facial Advice

My wedding is not for another year and a half but I am already trying to repair some dark spots on my skin.

I've had bad acne, and sometimes it comes back, but the scars it leaves on my face are noticeable. I've been using Clinique's Dark Spot Remover which dulled the color down but there are still scars. Is there any way to remove the scars completely? Clinique has been great but I think I am going to need something more if I want to remove all traces.

Advice? What products do you all use?

Re: Facial Advice

  • I had a similar issue; adult acne for 3 years and then I got a Mia and Murad and cleared it up, but the spots remained.  Keep in mind they were discoloration spots, not pitted scars.

I use Ole Henrikson Truth Serum (which also does a great job of brightening your whole face!), Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion (has retinol in it which helps skin cell turnover) and once a week I use half a syringe of Brazilian Peel followed by a moisture mask.  All the spots were pretty much gone in 3-4 months.  I think Vitamin C and chemical exfoliation would be a big help for you.
  • I love the Mia and Murad. It's been working well but I still have spots that won't go away as well.

  • I am an esthitcian and I have to say exfoliation is the best way to get rid of scarring and any brightening serum will help with hyperpigmentation, best bet is to see a derm or go for a facial. 90% of your routine at home will help but facials will aggressivly treat it fast. Hope this helps.
  • Any at home exfoliation treatments you recommend? I also use the Olay microdermabraison twice a week.

  • You might also want to try a chemical peel.  There are many different brands.  You could get them done in a salon or you can save some money and do them at home.  If you do them on yourself be sure to follow the directions very carefully!!
  • Exfoilating and using Vitamin C!  Either a chemcial exfoliant or using a scrub will help.  I use Philosophy's Vitamin C powder the Clarisonic Mia2 and I absolutely love them.  The combination of exfoliating and using a vitamin c will defintely help within a year.
