Cheap Ceremony Sites

HEY! Does anyone know of a ceremony site such as a church/chapel in the downtown Houston area that would cost less than $1,000? I'm on a fairly tight budget and love a reception venue downtown but can't seem to find a reasonable ceremony site!  I thought a lot of places were good until they mentioned all of the organist, services, etc. its ridiculous!  Also, I am doing a Friday wedding to save money so the U of H chapel is out which is awful bc i loved that place!  Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Oh and also, I live in NW Houston so if there is anything in that area please let me know too! I'm really in a rut!

Thanks!!

If your wedding is scheduled for a good weather season and you don't mind having an outdoor ceremony you should look into Bell Park or another City of Houston Park near your venue. You have to get a permit and do your music and officiant on your own, but the cost of the permit is only $75 and you pretty much get however much space you need for however long you need. We're doing ours at Bell Park on the big bridge and it's all working out well. We're doing an acoustic guitar and having it all standing (because we're doing a short ceremony - about an hour) and I believe our total ceremony cost (not including rings, haha) is about $125.

How do you go about getting the permit?
